Bad night at the track...sort of

Tried out the new stuff last night.....the temp was about 45 F / 10 C, and quite a bit of dew.

The truck ran strong, but could not get any good times out of her...because of ME. The best time was a 12.6 with a 2.35 60 FT time, with a final 114 MPH. All night I was spinning the first 30-40ft, even with the Nitto 555R's on the rear. Have to practice. My next step is to go the slick route, and just learn how to drive this beast.

I heard that for every 1/10th of a second drop in the 60ft = approx. 2/10ths off the final 1/4 mile time. Is that about right? If it is, then I should see mid 11's on a 60ft time of 1.7. What do you think?

Ya man you got the MPH's
my 11.81 was 113.98 MPH with a 1.6 60ft
Get that bad boy down to 1.6/1.7 and you def got
a nice 11

CONGRATS ALL THE SAME, any day at the track is a good day

Rob, how did you get her to launch? I know there have been a million threads on this issue, but is just practice? I seem to get to the line KNOWING what I want to do, but when I see that first stage light evrything goes out the window!!

What's your trick?

My Launch is no secrete and extremly simple

I leave from a dead idle
my foot stays on the brake and on the brake only
No power braking, no pre loading the convertor
When it's time to rock and roll, I jump out the seat
and stab that bastard as hard and quick as I can to the floor

I raced a full season on F-1's, my all time worse 60ft ever was 2.0
99.8 % were 1.9, and one was a 1.8.
With the Hoosiers I launch the same exact way, and get a 1.6
with the juice everytime, (1.7 without juice)
1.7 being my worse ever 60ft on slicks.

Some seem to be able to launch that way, others seem to not ?
The biggest thing is proper air pressure and a nice smokey to warm those tires up

GIVE IT A TRY IF YOUR LAUNCHING DIFFERANT

You also may want to consider going on a day when there is some sort of competition match. The track prep seems to be better those days, which means waaay better hook!

You definitely have an 11 second truck with traction!

Hey quick Canuck I assume that you were at Mission. I didn't realize that they were open yet. I play hockey every friday in Abottsford and am hoping to get up there before it heats up. Maybe I'll get to see you there sometime. BTW good run.

don't be discourage it was your first night out,and its early in the season

it was nice to see you out to bad we ended up in different classes as we didn't get much time to talk.

don't give up on the nitto's yet, it takes practice
you need to get the jitters out. best way for nitto is to launch on half trottle and get out of the hole and then to full WOT.

take the 12.6 and work with it even a bad day at the track is still a fun night..

not to hyjack your thread i was hoping for a 12.6 with my mods and was only able to hit a

1.91***12.79***107.47

i was pre loading the convertor the first 3 runs at 1800rpm
and the last 2 at 1400rpm, 60 foot times were 1.903,1.846,1.91,1.888,1.869
was running 15psi in the hoosiers.

will be back in a couple weeks when it warms up
will see if i can hit the 11 second club with the apten and #8 pulley.

6lb lower pulley, boost bypass, revelution chip, kooks stainless long tube headers, JDM catback exhaust, duel electric fans, cobra r electric water pump, JLP intake, accufab 1696cfm single blade throttle body,50 injectors,NGK TR6 plugs,Metco idler relocate, Factory Tech valve body, b&m deep tranny pan, 2/4 lowering kit, JLP rancho's bars QA'1s rear shocks, bell tech front coil springs,KYB-- front gas shocks , Alpine and JL stereo equipment

will try your way next time and see if i can hit the 1.6 area,

i thought you needed the high stall convertor to get those 60 foot times.
