Wheel Noise

As i was driving today i started to hear a scratching noise, so i got out of the car and had my friend drive it and i walked with it, it sounds like a light metal scratching noise coming from the passenger front wheel, any suggestions what this could be? thanks guys.

jack up the truck and turn the wheel. The brake is always in contact with the rotor, so maybe you did get a rock stuck in between there somewhere and its grinding as you drive around.

Once you have it jacked up you should be able to locate the sound much easier.

I had a similar problem a year or so ago on my old cobra - It turned out I had a small rock stuck between the brake pad and the disc.

i took off the wheel, my inner brake pad is worn out, ive never totally changed brakes by myself, but could someone please tell me what i might need to do it. My dad wont let my take them in to be replaced because he says he can fix it him self, but im 200 miles away from home so i gotta do it on my own. My inner rotor is a bit worn also, do u think i could just run with the new pads until i get home in june.

Also, what brake pads should i get, i can only buy them from Kragen, on store in town and they cant be that expesive or my dad will go ape *****.

What do you mean by a bit worn, are there gouges in the rotor.
You may be able to just replace the pads, but without seeing the rotor it is hard to tell.

What you have to do is remove the two bolts that hold the caliper to the spindle, remove the pads, and then take a big C clamp and push the piston into the caliper. Then replace the pads and reinstall the caliper.

if you go to
http://www.svtlightnings.com/

go to how to articles and look for front brake pad how to. It will give you all the info you need.

do i need that star tool to take off tha calipers, or can i take it off by taking off the bigger bolts? Also the discs are worn about 1/4 of the disc. the grooves arent that deep, so maybe i can just have them turned later.

and don't let the calipur hang by the hose, use a coat hanger to dangle it from the a arm or somewhere.

-and when you apply the C-clamp to push the piston back, don't turn it to fast. Nice and slow and give the brake fluid time to return to the container.
I turned it to fast once and the container overflowed even though I had not added brake fluid.
