Help Predator left me stranded at Dyno today
Help Predator left me stranded at Dyno today
have a 03 Lightning. Went to a dyno day today and started to load a costom tune from Johhny Lightning performance. Well after I loaed the tune my truck with not start. I tried to return the stuckl tune and the predator would not recognise my truck. Tried everything I could think of and my truck is sitting at the dyno as we speak. Will turn over but will not start. It would not recoginze my computer for what ever I tried. Threre is an option to force the stock tune back on to the PCM, but you need a dealer password, and diablo is closed today. THe long of it is I have a dead lightning 60 miles from my house. Any advise of insight would be great. One thing that has me a bit concerned is that Johhny lightning did not ask for my pats information when creating the new tune..... any help.. thanks is adance.

Sometimes our keys get messed up and the computer won't recognize the code on them, so if you had your spare key you could have tried that. Otherwise I forced my stock tune back onto my truck as well and didnt need any kind of code. Did you go into Options => Troubleshooting => Restore Original Backup? If that doesn't help I think I remember someone else coming across this and their predator was bad or something was interferring. Try doing a search. Good luck.
well nothin to do with the KEy.... I have no idea why it would not restore the orignial tune.. what ever I try, the predaotr will not recoginize the L. You can force the original tune back on but you need a password from a dealer. I am not happy. I dont think it has anything per say to do with the predetor.
Great controversy...I was wondering...no warranty, what is the best choice for my truck...predator, or chip/w dyno? My "goals in life" is a 6lb with headers. You pick...WHATS SAFEST...6lbs with headers, or 4lb with every possible mod(including port)...[questing is SAFEST] how safe can a 4lb pulley be...i really wanna know...thanks.
Well Johhny called me this morning and he said he would talk to a diablo rep at the track to try to figure out the deal. I hope we can get this figured out with out having to flash the computer at the dealership. Doug
Well spoke to Johnny and Diablo and they indicated that there is a force function to force my stock tune back on. But I have to have a password. There only consern is if the predator will be able to communicate with the PCM any more. If not may have to get towed to the dealership and have computer reflashed or worse yet replaced. I am not sure who should be resoponsible for this, but have a feeling it will be me. I hope the force will work. Diablo said they have never heard of this happening before. The only thing I can think is that the tune I loaded on from JLP was only 226K and it should have been 256K. Maybe he sent me a tune for a chip on accident or somthing.
The lightning is 60 miles away and I have to work, so It will be a crap shot when I can get up there.
I have also ordered up some tunes from RWTD to try out and hope these will solve my dilema. Dont have a real farm fuzzy at this time about this.

Sorry to hear that your odd problems with the predator isn't likely to be an easy fix. About the file size, Sal was saying in another thread that he had a couple issues with sending files over the email messing the file sizes up somehow. I had asked Johnny if he had any problems like that and he hadn't heard of that issue. Sal said that they had to end up "zipping" the files before they sent them electronically. Not sure if that was your problem, but nonetheless good luck on getting your truck running again...
Thanks... not a good time at the dyno when you are the only lightning that can not run. I hope diablo can get my stock tune forced back on. Then I will use RWTD tunes and be back on track..... or so I hope....
After doing some deep studying, it's quite apparent that the file you were sent was a file for a Revolution chip, not for a Predator, and this is what caused this to happen with your pcm. Predator files are 256kb and the Revolution chip files are 224kb. Hopefully the "Force" function will get your original factory file back onto the truck. Otherwise it may require a new pcm from Ford

Seems as time goes by, Diablo was either forced to release a product before it was 100% ready or Diablo should have sent their tuners a instruction manual of some sort.
Hey, we all learned from this. With tuners doing so many chips and predators it can happen. I hate that it did. I know JL will take care of you.
If you have a good Ford buddy I bet he can put the stock info back in for you. Other than that you may be looking at the new PCM. Good Luck 2000GT

Well I sure hope the force function will work. I dont know why JLP would have sent me a wrong tune, but it was definetly not 256K. I will have a serious case of the **** if I am looking at a new PCM. Just for the record, how much is a new PCM????
