Lightbulb Dyno results...

Well I went to the dyno today and heres the results...mods are 6# lower, PSP tuned predator, CAI and bassani cat back...

My A/F is way low, so Im guessing I can pick up some power if I fix that...here's the sheets...

run#1

run#3

the truck feels good, but i know I need to get the A/F fixed, the dyno chart only went to 10:1,but the guy said that he thinks he saw it dip to 9:1 at one point in time...how much do you guys think I'll pick up if I get it up to 11:1 or 11.5:1?

Your graph looks alittle peaky but I would say that you were good for 400hp 520ft/lb , which is some pretty stout numbers for running that rich. Congrats! Not real sure what you can pick up if you lean it up alittle bit. That's what I'm trying to find out myself with my truck

Edit: I was just looking at your numbers and saw the RPMs you started at...how'd they start them that low

I think that the graph is off a little bit, because the HP and TQ should cross at 5260 I think? So I'm guessing that it's off about 1000 or so...

I'm not sure why it's so peaky like that, but I emailed Sal about getting the tune updated, so hopefully that'll get fixed...

only crossed there when the sides are the same. This ones adjusted so thats not it. I'm curious too how they managed from 1000 rpm, did they lock the gear with the chip?

HP and Torque curves will cross at 5250 if both are using the same scale. Your's has different scales...HP on the right, and torque on the left.

418/560 @ 11.8:1 (Just guessing )

Inquiring minds want to know...How did they start the pull that low without it kicking down?

Honestly I have no idea, I was standing behind the truck watching, it seemed like he ran it up to 2nd (maybe third, then started it)...the first two pics have the MPH on them...looks like he was at 32 MPH at about 1600 RPM, so Im guessing he was in 2nd and the feathered it up maybe. Im not real sure though...

What is a safe A/F? I've heard 11:1 or so, and LocoSvt you say 11.8?

i think the general consensus is 11.5 -12 is pretty good but i would talk to your tuner and find out what they were using to measure the a/f as that is important as well.

Also you should have your dyno runs done in 3rd gear so you can get an accurate picture of where your hp and torque numbers are as well as your a/f ratio.

It's kinda wierd though because at 30 mph im not sure what gear you would be in at that rpm, but the torque converter will probably be free so that would change things but i don't see any kick down on the rpm but theres no way to run 2nd up to 92. Strange.

11.8 is the highest safe ratio I would choose if all other things are considered (timing, fuel, temps, etc.) It will depend largely on what fuel you run, your timing, and the extremes of environment your truck will be exposed to. I'm just quoting a number that I would be comfortable with. I don't live in sunny California and run that crap they call gas. You should confer with Sal, and trust his experience to deliver a safe tune.

My own opinion (worth just what you paid for it) is that unless there is wild power to be unleashed by pushing the tune to the edge, a middle of the road tune will pay dividends in peace of mind. I don't want to have to check my plugs every weekend, worry about bad gas, or have my engine get artistic with the rods if I hold the gas down for more than 13 seconds. On the other hand, I don't think washing down the cylinder walls with excess gas is good for the engine's longevity either. Somewhere in the middle is a safe zone that will produce decent numbers while keeping the pucker factor low.
