Did you sign any paperwork when you dropped the truck off? If so, there is a chance that the fine writting at the bottom expresses your consent and agreement to pay for work deemed necessary. I've seen this before and it is BS.

Damn, thats really crappy then. Glad you didn't sign anything, I would refuse to pay anything over the agreed upon price.

Wow, they really shoudn't have done that. They aren't allowed to add extra stuff like that w/o your say so. They should eat the diff. and give you like 3 free oil changes.

Re: Ford Service Sucks!

Has your truck ever been aligned before and did you have the cam bolt kit put on at that time? The cam bolt kit is a necessity to be able to align it to spec.

While they shouldn't have done any authorized work, noone will be able to align it without a cam bolt kit if it is lowered.

what he said.

you cannot be held responsible to pay for work that you did not authorize.

however, it's not like they overhauled your transmission. they did the work that was required to align your truck. you were far from being under warranty, it had nothing to do with your lowering kit. alignment can only be done once under warranty and it has to be under 12 months/12thousand miles.

prolly what happened was, the alignment guy went to the service writer and said, I checked the alignment, it's out of spec, and because it's been lowered, I don't have enough room to adjust it. it needs camber adjusters. the service writer said ok, figuring that it'd be ok because you came in asking for the alignment in the first place and these parts and labor were required to properly perform that repair.

that was his mistake, not yours, he/she should have called you for approval, not just "assumed" that it was ok with you.

so on that technicality you shouldn't pay for the work/labor.

however, that doesn't mean that they overcharged you or performed un-needed repairs on your vehicle.

Ford service doesn't suck, they just made a stupid assumption/decision.

you on the other hand made a stupid assumption that even after lowering your truck the only thing you'd need was a 29 dollar alignment.

just my .02

later,
chris
