well im going home for the night... if anyone has any ideas... PLEASE feel free to post them up..... i still dont see how I can be losing power... but as long as everyone else aint lying... i should have at least 10 more hp compared to others with the same mods... everyone says they gained 20+ hp from port job... i only gained 8 and thats port, reburn and throttle body.... hmmmmm

Scott, I didn't see anywhere in this thread where you mention who ported your Eaton. Was it Apten?

Its NOT gas, its NOT the exhaust, its NOT the tune...

You swapped the blower. There is SOMETHING wrong with the blower - more than likely its the bypass butterfly.

You said it yourself in a previos post that you went from barely any boost, to the 12# you're seeing now. And that was just because some line was crimped.

You should take another look in the blower and make sure that the butterfly is closed, and that it doesnt move too easily.

There's something that's being overlooked. Be sure that the blower is torqued down well, and that the gasket under the blower is in good shape, too.

I just thought of something...did you check to make sure your upper pulley is the correct size when they sent it back to you? I know that would be kind of a strange mistake for a 99-00 L but ya never know.

First, I'd check and make sure you're running the stock upper, and didn't get a Harley pully on there by mistake.

Next, I'd make sure that the throttle is physically opening all the way. I'd have someone put the gas pedal down, and make sure the blade is perpendicular to the front of the TB. I'd also make sure that there's not a big mismatch between the TB, gasket, and intake.

Next, I'd take the blower off, and ensure the bypass is working correctly mechanically. Then I'd ensure that everything is put back together properly and working smoothly. Make sure all gaskets are flat and are sealing, and follow the torque pattern for bolting everything back together. Hand spin the blower to make sure its not binding.

All the indications are that you're losing boost somewhere compared to others with the same mods. You've also mentioned drivability problems. You've certified the problem is affecting your performance on the street and on the dyno. The only thing left to do is spend some TLC on your L and get it healthy. Break out the wrenches and get under the hood!

EXACTLY.

SCOTT.
I said this same dang thing about a week or so ago when you posted that your truck wasn't running like you wanted.

it is your boost actuator.
You may have gotten your new one, but you DID NOT ADJUST IT CORRECTLY.

take it to the dealership and have it adjusted by someone who knows what they are doing@!

You know Scott, I feel the same way, my numbers do not match the mods.

Before: 395.8 RWHP / 482.2 RWTQ

After: 428.1 RWHP / 494.0 RWTQ
After Mods:
JDM Electric Fan
JDM Phenolic Spacer
RE 2# Upper Pulley
Metco Idler
Apten Ported Blower

I think it's time to juice the L!!!

Was your before dyno chart SAE or STD?
Do you have the stock intake still?
Adjust the rod on the bypass to barely sit on the stop. you could sent the dyno chart to Sal along wuith the chip and see if he can make any adjustments. Seems a bit lean but..maybe I am just safe @ 11.7AF.

Scott,

Sorry about the numbers I really hope you get it running where you want it to if something is wrong. Maybe their dyno is stuck on those numbers from when I ran because they are almost identical I really need to get a boost gauge to see what I'm pushing...but if we have the same numbers and you only have 12# of boost then I wonder if I have the same problem!?

Keep me updated!

well guys, i guess this weekend Im gonna see if I can get a buddy to help me and we will do basically what you guys said...

1. check the actuator
2. check the butterfly in SC
3. check that TB is opening all the way

and then just make sure everything is sealed up good and tight.... if i do all that and still doesnt do anything..... i guess I just dont have a strong truck or what?????

Your numbers are SAE corrected, like the rest of the world uses. All of the dyno results that come from the tuner shops are STD, which read higher numbers and make the customer feel warm and fuzzy inside. Unfortunately, STD numbers are worthless when it comes to comparing numbers to others results. Take it to the track and see if your MPH goes up, thats the real test. Who cares what numbers it spits out on paper, the real test is ACTUAL PERFORMANCE.
