upper grille removal ?

I searched through hundreds of old posts and all I could find was a how-to for a grille install on a 99-00 L. I'm installing a Street Scene speed grille on an '03 L and I can't quite figure out how to take out the stock upper grille (bottom one was no problem). Does a guy have to take off the entire grille surround? If someone has a how-to on this somewhere please let me know. Oh and I just installed a JDM Silver Bullet cat-back yesterday and it sounds BAD-***!!!! Well worth the $$! Thanks guys!

its the same as the 99-00 grilles...you have to take the entire surround out. There are screws along the top of the surround, under the plastic. Take all of those out, then you have to take the corner lamps out...there are screws behind them that hold the surround as well. After that you need to take off the weather gaurd that is snapped into the bottom of it...then pull the whole thing strait out...there are some clips still holding it on from the back side...but they will pop off if you pull hard and strait enough.

grill

take the black plastic cover off the top of the radiator. Undo the 6 screws on the top. Undo the 7mm bolts that hold your corner lenses in and take them out. Lift up on the levers that hold your heads in. Push the lever back a bit and pull again, you should be able to pull the lenses out......carefull not to scratch the paint like me. Get a pair of side cutters. Where the finders meet the bumper you will see a black piece of shield that is held in by two plastic push fasteners, just cut the heads off and pick up some new ones to refasten it. There are two on each side. The reach right in the middle between the grill and the bumper and you will see two clips you will have to free up. Undo those and gently the whole grill piece will come out..

A word to the wise, the stock fasteners they give you suck and I wouldn't use them. I could have just went a pulled a grill off someone's truck rather than buying one. Very cheap. I actually drilled holes in all the stock grill mounting tabs. Then i had to bend the street scene to fit. Used some small stainless bolts and washers and bolted it in. Good luck

I actually cut the "guts" out of the stock grille...leaving only the outer trim...I placed the speed grille inside it, then drilled holes where needed...I used small black zip ties to secure it.

You put them on loose at first to hold it in position...then tighten the corners all the way....working you way towards the middle. You wont see them at all.... and very easy in general.

The hardest part was gutting my stock grille...but mine was the older "honey comb" looking type...your grille could be easier or worse...Im not sure
