??? Is this NORMAL???

i bought the very first lightning i really looked at and drove... so I have no other expierences in driving other Ls to know... but it just doesnt seem right to me...

the chip was just recently reprogramed by Sal at PSP and everything seems to be fine... no weird noises, drives fine, everything seems good.... BUT

here is where I 'think' something is wrong.... but heck, i dont know... maybe its normal...

when already cruising at a speed (not a dead stop).... if I press on the gas just a little, say 1/4 way down.... i watch my boost guage and it does jump up to around 8 or so just by tapping the gas.... but the truck doesnt just GOOOO.... i hear the SC whine, but i dont really get a jerk feeling and it go....

then, when im cruising if i put the pedal to the medal and full WOT, there is a hesitation... almost like a 1 second delay before I feel that jerk and it really GOES!!!!!!!

like i said, i think everything seems fine... im just curious if this is correct.... i guess im used to driving a bike and u just tap the gas and the sucker jerks..... even in my wifes keep (although has 1/3 of the HP, it still kinda GOES when u just tap the gas)

thanks guys....i dont know if its normal, but ifs it not, i would like to get it fixed.... seems like if i were in a race from a roll on, i wouldnt stand much of a chance since i have that second delay

you had your eaton ported.

Perhaps you didn't adjust the boost actuator correctly, that is causing the delay in boost, OR some of the boost is actually going out the boost bypass vavle

well i was having problems right after I installed the blower back on... but found out that my boost bypass kit was messed up... one of the hoses was pushed too far into the "L" shapped elbow connector... so it was sucking enough air.... so I put the boost bypass back to normal (stock) and just unplugged that plug... seems to be alot better (i was only seeing 6 on boost guage sometimes)...
now i get it up to about 12.... and like i said, i have no problem seeing the boost guage go up... if i just tap the gas, the boost goes up.... but the truck doesnt just GOOOO

If I understand you fully, then yes its normal... at least that small delay you're talking about is. The truck's rpms shoot up some right before the downshift...I guess it's to place you in the power band... I would think anyway

if i am cruising and i just barely tap the gas, the truck doesnt speed up at all.... almost like i threw it in nuetral and reved it a little..... u know what i mean???

then if i really get on it, there is almost like a full second before i feel that jerk and it moves....

maybe its normal.... but i dont like it and i thought adding the throttle body would fix that... but i dont like it... i wish when i hit the gas, i would go immediately!!

I had that issue, then the transmission was replaced. It was slipping trying to go into 1st from 2nd, and sometimes on the kickdown from 3rd to 2nd.

Could be a tranny issue... ? Find someone in your area with an L - I'm sure they'd be a brutha and let you pilot it to see if they have the same thing..

that is odd... the delay thing I can sort of relate to, but my truck never feels like its in nuetral... do the revs go up fast like its in nuetral?

Slipping a bit? Torque converter issue?

or do u mean a torque converter would help fix it.... those are only like $400 or so right???

how do i find out for sure what the problem is??? i dont have any warranty left

a couple weeks ago when i installed the FTVB, the tranny pan was clean... no pieces or anything in there...

When you're doing this do you have the overdrive on. If so, try it with the OD off. My truck is sluggish if I tap the throttle when in OD. I'm not sure about the delay you speak of at WOT. It does take the truck a second to downshift when I WOT, but when it does kick down, I have to pull my eyeballs out of the back of my skull.

One of the tuners might want to chime in, but shouldn't he be running IT22's with his mods. In the sig it says IT20's. From the posts I've seen, the Flowmasters need to go. I don't think I've seen one positive thing. Most prefer Magnaflow or Basanni. JMO

Scott,

Check with the previous owner to see if he put an aftermarket higher stall convertor in the truck. It's my understanding that a higher stall TQ convertor will feel soft down low.
