Ok, So I was wrong, not all Ford service sucks
Ok so I admit I was a little upset when I posted yesterday. So on the way home I stopped at AutoZone.
Pulls a 171 code, lean bank 1.
It has done this before and then I thought it was the breather cap. I had taken off the breather 2 days ago and reset the CPU and the light came back on. The way my truck is running I knew there was something else wrong. So I call another Able Ford, never been there and it is only 1/2 mile from my house. It was like night and day between them and the other 2 dealerships. There service and parts department are open M to Th until 10:30 pm. They tell me to come in, I show up at 7:15pm. Within 5 minutes my truck is written up and inside the shop. 5 minutes later the tech comes out and says that it is going to be a while until he figures out what is wrong.
Said it pulled a 171 but that my 7 and 8 cylinder is misfiring, and so is 3 slightly. He let me come in to the shop and watch. He ran all these test on that snazzy laptop Ford tool. Everything else looked ok except my Long Term fuel map/ratio or something was running 25% lean. All my injectors were working.
So we figure I should start by replacing the coil packs. I bought 2 to replace 7 and 8. They were only $53.00 which was great because the "other" dealer was like 70 something. He tried to run a relative compression test but for some reason the Ford scan tool would not let him.
Got home and replaced number 8 (7 was too hard to get to in the dark), then truck is running smoother but not perfect, so I hope when I replace #7 everything will be back to normal. I would also like to thank Sal from PSP for calling me back to answer some questions the tech had about my chip at 8 pm!!
Anybody have any ideas on why bank one long term fuel would be reading 25% lean?

Damn this is a ruff crowd. Yesterday I post something negative and everybody rips me that I should go to anger management. Today I admit I was out of line and give a Ford dealership some props and not one person has any nice to say.
ABLE FORD ROCKS,!!!! they just opened a new showroom in Oceanside at merrick and long beach road. the service department is 5 minutes down the road in Island Park. Seems like a good place. I met one other Cobra guy, he was complaining about minor stuff that Ford did (not sure it was at Able) but I think he was looking to make a conversation.
Not going to give the names of the others due to the fact I do not want the police knocking at my door. They were not in Suffolk county. Just stay away from all Nassau county and queens/kings county dealers.
The only other dealerships in LI in Suffolk was McCarville. I know they were supposed to be the best, they are also the furthest from my house(1 - 1:30 minutes) I was told only to use them, they have the best SVT mechawell after 3 or 4 trips to them to fix a leaky windsheild with no luck I was not too impressed and will not be making that drive anymore.
I bought my truck from Newins Bayshore ford. I have no experience with the service department but the sales were top notch. When I bought the truck (Nov 02) there was only 2 black trucks in the tristate area. I had 3 dealerships competing for the same truck. I even found the dealership in CT were it was at and called them. Newins gave me the best price and had the truck ready for me in 48 hours from CT. The dealership in CT said it would be at least 5 to 7 days before I could pick it up, so Newins bought the truck from them, drove it to NY, and I had it in 49 hours, All over the phone, never test drove the truck before, and I was 100% happy when I got it.

I read both of your posts. I think it's great that you got results from this new dealership. I would have reacted the same way you did at the other dealerships. I would have been wrong too, but I'd have felt a lot better! I hate waiting, regardless of the situation.

how much are the coil packs supposed to cost?? i just got my #8 changed yesterday, and the service manager said it would've cost me $130 for one if it wasn't covered under my warranty. you said it cost 50 bucks at the dealer you went to, so was this guy trying to give me the shaft? if that's the case, then i might have to go down there and slam a few doors too!! hahaha!!!

I think retail is 102, fordparts.com have them for around 75. 2 dealerships in the area sold them from 75 to 93 or so.
They sold them for 53. If you need a bunch and can not get a deal, I will get them and ship them to you. Going back Saturday to pick up some other stuff.
I almost got the 2 of them for 80 bucks but I did not have cash. they would have wrote it up for shop price.
ABLE FORD ROCKS AT $53 A POP.

Well I am glad to hear that you found a dealership that you liked. Like Spyder207 said i have read the last couple of post, and I would have done the exact same thing. It kinda remindes me of a incident a couple of weeks ago. I was at adventeure landing with a couple of buddies, and we had bought wristbands so we could ride gokarts on a oil track. The wristband let us ride until they closed; however, it was cold and the people operating the track wanted to go home and were complaining about being out there. So we went and got the head manager to fix the whole situation. Anyways long story short, they are getting paid to operate the track until they closed. Just like the mechanics sitting around were getting paid to service their vechicles, IT IS THEIR JOB. I do my job, you do your job, and so should everybody else.

Not denying what you paid for the ignition coils, but it doesn't sound like they were original equipment Ford ignition packs if you got them for $53.00. Fordpartsonline has them for $81.76 and my dealer where I get parts at shop rate (25% over cost) has them for $72.00. They list for $102.00. Ford cost would be around $57.00. If they sold them below cost, then that's the dealer I would go to. Kind of curious how they would be able to sell them for $40.00 each for cash. Is somebody using the 5 finger discount method there?

Well if that is the case you all should be emailing me for them. They definitely were OE ford, in the red and white box and all. The guy said it was 53. He said if I had 80 cash he could write it up at shop cost or something to that effect, anyway I only had 78 bucks on me and I had to pay for it with my CC. If it was 5 finger method I would think he would have taken it.
I thought it was a sick deal also. I still need one more, I hope it was not a mistake and the same price when I go back. I am going back probably Saturday and will pick up the other one and let you all know.
Ok I think I will be going to Able ford now. I have to get warranty work done to my truck. I was going to go out to McCarville because that is were I got my truck. But I am goignt o try able first.
That price is right.Just bought one from sayville ford about a week ago for one of my work vans.5.4 triton.I even remember the guy saying they're half the price now, ford changed some part #.Plus i get to use my friends tax I.D #
