Joe Gibbs Chevrolet in Hahira

A Chevrolet dealer in Douglas Ga and Atlanta is selling these Joe Gibbs Trucks they nice looking. They look factory on the outside except for the Jog Gibbs badging rear lip spoiler and huge 3inch exhaust. In the paper work they say they are faster than a Lightning @ 13.8 in 99.??mph with just 5.5lbs of boost. The set up look like the Lightning intercooler and all the blower looks like a Cobra blower(rear intake instead top like us).Very nice truck the Police Chief of Hahira Ga. ownes it and we will take it to the track and line it up against the my Lightning should not be close I run 13.36 right now but he was told that he could run 14psi of boost with no problems he had a Supertunner that came with it from Chev. 20' custom wheels with Joe Gibbs casted into the wheel. This is a short bed fleetside truck leather suede trim seats silver gauges NO BOOST GAUGE???? Has anyone else seen one of these?Oh and Chevrolet factory warrenty 5/50 instead of 3/36 and they told hime pulley changes would not void his warranty(we will see).

Must be something the dealer is doing. I work for a chevy dealership and have yet to see anything like that.

All we are doing is Rim changes and billet grills, Etc.

What do you mean by Gville only has 300' "feet of concrete".

I ask because I live in Gainesville and I'm curious

Possibility I suppose, but what does 300" of concrete mean. 1/4 mile tracks are 1320' and asphalt

Nice to see another Gainesville Fl. member. I'll be posting up for a "free beer and wings if you help me wrench" day as soon as my gauges come in. It always takes a few assisted days when I get a new truck before I feel comfortable wrenching alone.

They are definately not as fast as a L. Also a pulley change would void every bit of his warranty, and you couldn't get 14 PSI out of that blower on that truck. Also as far as the pulley change is concerned the normal magnacharger uses a pulley that you hold on with a nut, and a key(similar to a crankshaft key) keeps it from spinning. The Joe Gibbs uses a press on style that you can't just change out. You have to change out the nose of the blower which is about $400 in order to be able to change the pulleys. Nice quick trucks, but stock they are not a Lightning killer. You CAN however get one with a manual unlike the lightning, but you have to go with the 4.8L engine instead of the 5.3 to do so.

As for the concrete I was talking about the track if you look at Gainesville Fl track the 1st 300' is concrete then asfault after that.Ciecil has 800' of concrete then the rest is asfault from what I'm told concrete gives you better traction than asfault. The guy I know with the Joe Gibbs Chevy has changed his blower pulley they do not have much room for imporvement because they have no crank pulley option he is getting 1.5lbs more boost so should be running 7psi now.He has run 13.4 with slicks I don't expect much more he ran 13.7 stock.I'm going this friday night to see if I can pick up .16 to put in the 12's I picked up 4.5 with just a 10 deg drop in temp and with 1/4 of a tank of gas vs 3/4.

You need to run a 1/2 tank so you don't starve the pumps.

I have read that here before but I have had no problems running well starting with 1/4 a tank and ending up with les than a 1/8th maybe closer to a 1/16th of a tank.Truck runs strong all the way through the 1/4 only problem is I can not run it cold it hits the fuel cut off from 1st to 2nd.
