Angry Ford Service sucks

Just went to 2 dealerships to get my truck scanned to read the SES code.

Dealership # 1: 7 lifts only 2 cars a lifts, 8 mechanics jerking off in the corner. "Sorry you need to make an appointment, we are too busy today" Me: I buy all my parts from here and you are too busy to send someone out to my car and scan it for 2 seconds. "Yes". So I slam the door exiting the parts department, break the window, and the manager chases me out to pay for the window and gets a nice chunck of rubber from my rear tires in his face.

Dealership #2: "usually you need to make and appointment in advance, bring the car and leave it and by the end of the day we will scan it and let you know what is wrong" YOu got to be kidding me?? " Well we are not busy today so we can do it, but you are going to have to wait around for a few hours.

30 second job, 3 miles of red tape, and I still have to go to auto zone to get my truck scanned. So glad I paid the 2k for the extended warranty.

Chill, man... The problem is that the techs have to bill their time for EVERYTHING.

....just take it to an AutoZone (if you have one). They scan it for free.

EDIT: Here's the link

Even if I am out of line, with your attitude you get what you deserve. No I don't have any affiliation with the auto business, however you probably need to relax. I mean think about it. You want some business that has millions invested to stop, drop and help you for possibly nothing. Yeah my service tech would do it for me, but I also respect him as a person and do realize that he does not own the company so he must follow procedure.

If you are man enough, go back to the broken window dealer and offer to pay the costs to fix it and drop off a case of quality brew as a piece offering. Good luck.

I agree. You need to pay for the esp and in addition give the tech a tip. Go back to the dealer and take it in the ***.

I would be kinda pissed too, but I don’t think I would have broken the door window.... but I have a feeling that you didn’t mean for it to break either.

I get irritated with dealerships also, that’s why I don’t go to them...they don’t need the money, so they treat you that way. Not all service centers are like that...but I avoid them all just to spare any potential headache. They do have to devide their time on paper... thats fine...but I dont have time for that.

I would definitely not waste my time there just to read a code...hell, waiting at their front desk to speak with someone takes longer than it does at AutoZone to pull the actual code.

I hear what you are saying but I really think everyone on this board would have done it. With 7 mechanics sitting around doing nothing, a dealership where the parts department knows me on a first name basis, would have done something for me. The window breaking was a pure accident, but I did take pleasure in it. There was a little more detail than what I included in the post and re reading it it does make me look bad(even a mechanic that said he was free and could do it standing right next too me, and the manager still said no--that is why I slammed the door) , but they started it.

WHAT?

Took it to a dealer to scan a code? First mistake.

VatoZone will scan it for free --OR-- buy a used laptop and your own scan tool software (ie: Autotap) and flip extended middle digits to them all, or something.

Talking

What have I learned from this thread?

1. I lost my temper.

2. I broke a window.

3. I ran away.

You will be very lucky if they don't have you arrested. If I was the manager I would have you arrested.

Like others have said I would not have taken it to a dealership because AutoZone's and I suspect other autopart stores in your area will do it for free.

You do need to chill

I have had so many bad experiences at dealerships that I have to be absolutely out of options before I even start to consider taking a car back.

And BTW: Pay for the broken glass. What's right... is right.

Granted id be pissed to, But not all dealerships are like that. The dealer in my home town is extreamly small and they give me excelent service. My truck goes no where else. They also have the most qualified people in the area. Good luck man

I just got a call from the head manager at the dealership, he apologized to me. The parts manager was there(guy I buy all my parts from) and witnessed the whole thing and told him the story. He said the service manager was out of line, had an attitude, and was not helpful at all. He was very apologetic and even admitted that the parts manager wanted to choke him for dealing with me like that. The parts manager was very pissed because I priced out a 03 block and crank from him just last week. He offered me to come down immediately for the scan and even a free oil change. I was shocked by the call. I told him thanks for that apology but I am going to take my business elsewhere.

When I called to ask about reading my code (O2 Sensor Bad)
the Service Rep went into his speil about "We have to do
a complete scan and that is $79.00 and takes about an hour"

I had identified myself at the time, and I was in total shock.

I said "Really, are you s h i t t i n g meh?" and hung up.

Went to autozone and they read it in 5 minutes.

When I went into the dealership again, I confronted him
about it and he said something like "I didn't know it was you...."

Like how many Cliff's does he know that dirve Lightnings.

This is the same clown that jerked me around about my truck's
warranty being flagged.

All this because I happend to call when my regular service advisor
had a day off.

After the two incidents, the arsewhip barely kept his job ...

FORD needs to police these dealers a bit closer. And this is
at a BLUE OVAL Dealer ....

Jeez ...
