OK, I've never been a fan of lowered vehicles, so I'll start off with that.
I'm itching to get an L as I really miss it. Found a dealer who has a new 2003 DSG in stock, but they lowered it 2.25 inches.
Here's a pic they sent me....
I've had L's in the past and I liked the height they were at. I also thought the ride was stiff enough already.
I'm not sure I like the fact that this has been lowered.
Does it look too low? How much stiffer is the ride when it's lowered 2.25?
Can it be raised back to normal height? If so what would a shop charge to do this?
Any insight about a lowered L, opinions would be appreciated.

That's about how mine looks when the towing bar is removed.
Generally speaking I'm not a fan of lowering cars either. But I do like my 1" frnt and 3" rear. (1" spings and 3" shackles in the rear")
I'd say it looks good as is.

The back is easy to do yourself.... just ride the truck up some ramps and then place a jack under the differential. Pump jack up till the top bolts on the shackle seem to lossen. Shackles should be real easy to remove at this point. You will either have to buy a oem set of shackles or hope the ones on the truck are adjustable. A shop should charge very little for this.
The front is alittle more time consuming and pricey. The previous owner probably installed lowering springs and you will need to buy a set of oem springs to replace them. If you keep the front the way it is you MUST install cam bolts. Check to see if they are there, without them aligning the front will be a nightmere. Also get some clunk washers done at the same time.
In the long run its much cheaper to just leave it alone or find another truck that fits you better. Good Luck!

lowered trucks suck....
It looks fine man, I think every lightning should be level like that AT LEAST.. you wont notice much difference in stiffness with that little bit of drop... there will be some, but I think you may like it more than you're thinking
