Slick Lizzard

No but I will look it up.

11 Sec with a stock air box, I dont think I was to far away from it. Maybe with a converter and some slicks. Heck I might could have got closer if I had just removed my Tri-glass bed cover. That alone was over 100#. My goal was a 12.5 and I made it and then some so I was very happy. With less than 750 in mods and a 12.34.

There is a basic point your not taking into account when trying to argue the stock/modified box route.

The velocity per open cell on a stock sized K&N panel filter will = less filtration VS a large conical one. And there-for a lower velocity per open cell.

And since you've been educated in how media flow through a *round* pipe works... I sure do think you'd be a proponent of a conical shaped filter on the end of a perfectly round pipe.

Other than the cost factor, I see no reason for advocating a stock air box w/panel filter that's been modified.

Rich
Stock airbox brings cooler air to the filter, and keeps engine heat away from filter.

I to have done it. I like it this mod only because it still retains that factory look. Right now my freind has lent me a C&L 85mm MAF Sensor with a K&N conical filter. To see if I like it more. To be honest I only drove it for about 5 mintues, but the truck feel more lazy then bfore. It could be that there is so much Humidity in the air today, not sure thow. Will see how it works out.

On my Modded air box I had drill 4 2" holes but I did not like it so I cut from hole to hole to make one big square. Here are pic of the bottom of the air box.
