nitto 555 on front 555r on back is ok 2 do?

I'm trying to decide between the Nitto 555R's and toyo's. I was thinking of splitting the difference by gong with two different compounds on the Nittos. Thinking if I have the hook up on back and the regular on front I could always buy two more tires later if I need to.

Anyone have any thoughts on that? Or tried it already?

Also anyone who knows of a good inexpensive place to buy tires would be helping me a lot.

Thanks.

Nitto's

I have the 555's upfront and the 555 DR's in back (315's). No problems.

I have that exact set-up. Great combo, but beware, you will be buying new 555R's for the rear pretty quick. I am told they last only about 6-7000 miles, especially if you use the truck as a daily driver. Other than that, they are great

i believe they are rated for 30k miles. But you gotta figure everytime you go to the track, or smoke em at a stop lights, your cutting your life down about 1k miles of daily driving.

Didn't know they made 315's, only 305/45's.

DR's

the 555R's have a tread wear rating of 100 this is about equal to 10k miles of normal driving not L launches the 555's have a 300 TWR this is about 30k under norm driving, I just put the 295/45's on front and the 305/45's on rear and I LOVE them I will never buy F-1's again.

I got a price quote today from discount tire on the 555r's all the way around for $1018 out the door. and if I wanted the 555 on front and the 555R on back they said they could do it at $956.

Does anyone know where to get a better price at?

I contacted a place in CA who said they sell for 209 a piece, but they told me they raised thier price to $259 and wouldn't honor posted prices on the net.... Chumps.

What do you guys think about running 295/45-18 in the front and Nitto's 305/55 -18s in the back?

Excuse Me

My typing is faster than my brain. Yes, they are 305's and are on stock size rims.

Why would you want drags on the front?

Why would I want drags on the front? Well because my Lightning is a front wheel drive.

Actually I would put the 555r on the back. They are 'stickier'.

After more discussion I don't think I would do the 555/555r combo. Just for the reason that if you wanted to rotate the tires (even the front ones) you would have to have them removed from the wheel to do so. They are directional so the tires and not be changed from side to side, they would need to be dismounted and remounted.
