Went to new orleans this weekend to pick up my new tranny. I was in my lightning, just limping it down there. We were tring to find a room when a jet black c5 vette (coupe) with chrome wheels pulls by me on i-10. My truck shifts fine from 30mph on, so i said what the he!!. he kinda did a ricer fly by on me at about 70mph, and i immediately pulled back by him. i thought he may of let off or something after reading these threads about vettes pulling on lightnings up high. Well we lined up again at about 60mph and i let him hit it first, when he did i pulled away about 3-4 car lenghts until about 110mph or so and he gave up.

 

You should be able to stay doorhandle to doorhandle with a Z06 with your mods. Regular C5's will get eaten alive!

 

It was the fastest thing i've got to race on the street. i was very suprised to say the least. i guess i can go up against a zo6 with a little more confidence now

 

Im mostly stock. At those speeds I get eaten alive by vettes. Nice job.

But must add that ive never lost to a vette off the line. Raced several...up to about 70. 70 on, its a different story. Race the next z06 from a light. Anyone attempt an SRT-10 viper?

 

One of my buddies has a nice 01 C5 black Vette with the chrome rims and mad does it look sweet, we have played before and he will get me when we hit 100 or so but that's when were both doing 65 or so but he also has gears, full exhaust and a chip. We raced at the 1/8 a few times and all he saw were my tail lights...
