I've just about had it!
I'm about to try Vince's oil in the intake fix. I have tried several "sure fire" fixes over the past few years to no avail; and, I just stepped out to do a modification to my Volant kit. When I opened it up there was oil, not only in the throttlebody, but in the friggin' air filter box. What a mess. I'm tired of it. If this doesn't work, I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of the L. I'm constantly worried that I'm just around the corner from walking home with this truck. Maybe I'm overreacting; but, there it is.
Does anyone with the stock throttlebody have this much oil trouble? I don't remember it being this bad before the switch to the Accufab. It's been a while; so, maybe I just can't remember.
This whole thing just makes me sick.

I have absolutely no oil or sign of oil in my T/B. I recently replaced the rubber intake boot/pipe/hose. I couldn't find a trace of oil in it. I installed the REM seperator a couple years ago as a precautionary measure. I didn't have a problem at that time either. My T/B is stock BTW.

A famous tuner told me the best way to stop the oil is to disable the PCV system. Block it off and install a breather cap in place of the oil filler cap. I never had oil in the intake problems on my 03 until I started doing open track events. The instructors told me to run an extra 1/2 qt. to make sure I did not starve the motor in some of the corners. After I installed the Apten mod I cleaned the T/B up and added a breather (according to Mike Troyer you do not have to block off the PCV on the 03's). So far the truck runs fine, no lean codes and no oil in the T/B. Is there a down side to running this way?

I also have a volant intake that I cut a 2.5 inch hole in the bottom towards the end that mounts to the MAF and ran 2.5 inch hose down below the front bumper. Now I am just looking for something to use for a scoop. Maybe I will just make one with fiberglass.

That's pretty much what I have in mind. You don't really need a scoop though. I'm routing mine to the area just behind the grille.

Of course, I'll have to remove the Volant and drain the oil out. Anderson powerpipe gets put back into duty for a while I guess.
