Question ?? about a lower pulley install

Hey guys i have a question about a pulley install. I just finished installing a 4 lb lower pulley and took it for a test spin. Just after getting into boost it started making this rapid ticking sound...i think I might not have gotten the bolts to secure the pulley in tight enough because i forgot to torque them down properly
I'm going to check on that in the morning. Do you guys think that could be the problem? Also is this piece supposed to be removed? It's the piece that the stock pulley screws into... http://jeffscars.tripod.com/pulley_part.jpg
I should state this is on a 99 L...i sold the 2000 a while ago.

edit - the hyperlink doesn't work thanks to tripod, if you copy and paste it in though it works fine.

xfactor,
That's prob. not the pulley. It very well could be detonation, which is BAD.

Do you have a chip?
If not you need one ASAP with a new tune.

Others will be posting soon to help out but I would lay off the boost until this is resolved.

The extrat piece I assume is from the cage? not positive it looks different than mine (2001). If that's the case, Yes, it has to come off too.

good luck.

I would agree with 0Light1, it may be detonation. Do you know what detonation sounds like?

I should have stated that i'm 99% sure it's not detonation because, i'm not running a chip right now and i only took it up to about 6 lbs of boost...after i got into boost it started making the noise and then it continued to make the noise even when idling.

Yep i'm a moron
I had tightened the bolts down but apparently not tight enough so i pulled them all out, checked them didn't look like anything was stripped, recoated them with blue locktite, and then torqued them down to 35 ft lbs. It's running smoothly now and i just need to get my new boost gauge so i can see what i'm actually hitting
