First impression of THROTTLE BODY

i was told not to expect much if any HP gains.... but the throttle response would leave me with a 'wow' feeling... that it would make driving much more fun.... just a little tappy tappy and the truck would go...

so i got my accufab throttle body yesterday and installed it... it was a VERY easy install so I know there is nothing I could have done wrong...

unplugged the battery to reset the computer, and then took off.... wow, i dont know what it is... but my first impression isnt that good. i dont really noticed anything at all... if anything, i think it might be worse... why do I have bad luck with mods???

anyway, the pedal almost feels 'heavier" and when I press down, instead of an IMMEDIATE acceleration, it almost delay for a split second... i dont feel any loss of power, and i still have all my boost like before.... but just not getting what i was expecting...

any ideas??

Check to make sure your cables are routed correctly. Just an idea.

Did you check your TPS position before and after ??? Could be off.

Do a Search.

A throttle body is just a small piece of the puzzle. I do not think you are having bad luck with mods , but that your expectations might be high. Besides Chip and pulley and blower changes (including ported) there are not too many mods that give a SOTP feel and the Throttle body definately is one of them that most (if not all people do not feel). That whole throttle response thing is a little overrated IMO and I think after spending $400 for a very nice looking paper weight , people mentally want to feel something.

Just my 2 cents on T/Bs

Vinnie is right. The TB mod is just about worthless. I have an accufab myself and had the same experience.

It still brings a smile to my face when I see guys on the forums consistantly tell people "It wont give you much power but the throttle response is awesome" LOL what a joke.

I think it is more for mid range and top end than off idle.

It creates a bigger pressure drop off idle than at top and the computer can't react fast enough from low emissions mode.

In the old days that would happen with big carbs and long duration cams so we just cranked the idle up.

thats about the most techincal bull$jit excuse ive ever heard about throttlebody.

no offense to the buyer unless he was dumb enough to buy one after doing a search but,EVERYBODY knows that throttlebodys are absolutley useless, ive seen better throttle respose from usuing 94 octane instead of 93

the fact is they $uck, they always have $ucked and theyll keep on $ucking for ever.Anybody who does a search on the product and then buys one deserves the results they get.

You cannot shovel 10lbs of ***** in a 5lb bag and you cannot gain anything from a throttlebodyThese are facts of life

But, there are documented gains with a TB IFF you near 500 rwHP levels. At that point, the stock TB seems to be providing a bottleneck.

Increased "throttle response" is heavily dependent on the placebo effect. Show me the dynos or timeslips.

Throttle body's are not useless.....well some of them are.

Go find and old SVO unit that has been set up for a lightning, the difference between that and the POS accufab will amaze you.
