I love my Metcos! No wheel hops or traction issues with my hoosiers.

"Traction bars" are somewhat misnamed. They are not designed to help you "hook up" per se. They are designed to keep your axle from wrapping up, which causes wheel hop, which causes a loss of traction.

So, if you are not getting wheel hop, traction bars are not going to help you one bit.

But I consider them mandatory in any high-HP vehicle with leaf springs. Driveshafts can and will break without them.

Before modding I had no wheel hops. After modding which boosted my HP & TQ I started to get wheel hops. So I had a pair of Metco Upper Track Links installed to cure the hopping issue which causes bad traction and can snap your driveshaft.

Rancho type traction bars will help lift the front end and transfer weight better. I have the JLP.

I made my own. Traction bars wont help on traction, tires is what gets good traction. Like Tim said they help with axle wrap and wheel hop.

Metco traction bars will "help" with traction, you can set the preload.

It's not a world of difference with street tires, but with DR's you can easily tell the difference. This is with stock output.

If you have regular mods like 4#, chip, filter, the only real alternative for traction is traction bars/slicks.

Traction Bars

Traction Bars can and do make a big difference in drag racing. It has been proven that a proper set up can make a huge gain in et,
especially in cars limited to tire size. Larry

T-Bars

I've been using JDM's Rancho style bars for 3 years now and I think they do a great job. I'm sure JLP's and LFP's are just as good. The design not only stops axle wrap but also helps lift the weight from the front of the vehicle towards the back where it is needed, John H.

Just wondering which style traction bar works best for everyday street use.
