Im thinking of putting a A.R.E tonneau cover and wing on my L. A dealer near me who installes them said the wing has a break light on it. Im wounder if anybody has this setup and can tell me if it really does have the break light. Those of you that have it, do you like it? Do you think the extra break light is cool to have? Also, what prices did you pay. The dealer quotes me $700 for the tonneau and $300 for the wing. I think he did say that included installing it. Does that sound right.

i can e-mail you some pics. I dont know how much it was because i bought mine with the cap and wing on the truck . I am thinking about taking the wing off. but i am not sure yet. But the bed cover is a must have, i love it

The wing can either be with or without a light. The normal retail for a cover with wing is around $1100. Add around $80 extra for the light add around $100 for the carpet add around $40 for the lock shroud add about $90 for electric lock(you can get those free with internet coupon off are web site). Sounds like if you can get a new one for $1000 with a wing painted and installed that is a good deal.



BTW,I'll sell you mine. $700. It has carpet liner, lock shroud, with with light. It is only a couple of years old, but is black...

I put an astro lid on my 04 L and like it better than the a.r.e. it came carpeted inside for $680 inc 6% tax. It will comes off easily without having to remove the frame so realignment isn't an issue. I dicided against the wing on the new truck. I attach a pic but haven't taken any yet. I could later tonight if you want to see it

 

I also have the A.R.E lid and wing w/out brake light. I paid around 1200. That is with lock and carpet under the lid to match my bedrug. I don't think the brake light is a good idea because you already have one. Why would you need two. Just my $.02. Keith.

The thing is the guy I talked to said it only came with the break light. I don't think I want it, thats way I posted this thread.

 

The ARE lid is going for $728 + in Denver. I asked about the wing and he said 250-300. Plus tax and all that so it sounds like pricing is pretty consistant.

I really like the look off them with the wing. The light would have to be something really trick. Maybe a stip of LED's that you change colors.

To bad I like to carry my bike and motorcyle and kayak around to places. It would be a hassle to take it on and off all the time.

 

Tonneau cost 1100$ installed with wing. The wing that is offered with it does not have a brake light(mine didnt anyway).

I have the ARE with wing.....after 3 years I still look at it and sometimes like it, and sometimes wish I had left off the wing. Along with the ARE style sitting a bit higher than some other lids, the wing makes it look taller/higher even more--from some angles.
Truthfully, I still like the roll-n-lock type covers. you can use the open bed when you need to, cover and lock it other times...and I think some brands require no drilling.

Thats what I thought at first but I went to ARE website and came across this. Looks like they do and it only comes with the damn light. Im thinking of just getting the cover and put on a different wing.
