tonneau/temperature

I realy like the looks of the hard tonneau covers. Espeacialy the ones with the nice flip up or wing.

Buuuuutttt, there are times when I haul things that will be higher than the bed. It would be to much hassle for me to be taking it on and off by myself and those things are heavier than I thought.

I am wondering if the soft Tonneau generates heat and turns the bed and everything in it into an oven durring the sunny days?

Here in Colorado we get Prolly 300 days of sunshine a year and it is drier than a popcorn fart.
I am looking at the ://www.accesscover.com/Products/Access.asp
it has a lock that holds it in place and if you drop the gate there are two others from the bottom. $425+
The only thing is that top seems like it would transfer heat like a mother. Does anyone no of something similar that has insulation sewn to it or I was tying to figure how to do some styrofoam panels just under the top. Idea's?

I over anylize everything!!! I just have not had a tonneau or no anyone else but you guys that use them.

I was even considering going the topper route but I have another truck set up like that. The trouble is I love driving the L and may even get rid of the 4X4. The L does everythng I want well and rides a lot better. Even considering one of the bed tent options for overnighters on weekends.

What do you guys think? Help me decide. I need a push.
The main thing is the soft tonneau and the heat or how to prevent it.
Thanks Guys

I guess that I would probably ask why you are concerned about the heat? I think it has more to do with the color of the tonneau more than anything else. I mean a hard white cover carpeted underneath would most likely be better than a black soft one. I would imagine that both would be hot, just one not as much as the other.

I can say that I like my factory soft one mostly for the reasons you mentioned. On the other hand though a hard cover would be nice for security but then you have some weight gain. Good luck.
