On the High Banked Tri Oval ... WOOT !!!

Well, rather than drag racing at Clay City on opening day,
I went to the "drive the track" event at Sparta. Saw a
bunch of neat cars and met some really nice Fbody guys ...

KY Speedway was were Little "E" ran last week to fix all the
car problems hehad out west.

Now the killer .... Driving on a BANKED track was a HOOT !!!

I have a GREAT sound track on my video camera because I left the
windows down and the 'vettes and vipers in my run group were
cutting it up pretty good ... We had a really GREAT pace car guy
that let us open them up a bit ... I hit 135 on the straight and
about 100 in the banks ...

It's just too bad that some bozo (ME) forgot to take the dayum
lenscap off the camera that was mounted on the dash ....

Oh well, there's next year, I guess...

If you've never done this, you need to ...

For the One Percenter's --- This is NOTHING like open Track ... <grin>
It's more like driving in a coffee cup, round and round and round ...

Cliff,

Glad to see you enjoying the L to its fullest.

I would love to do something like that.

F'n sweet

Here's a story to make you feel better.........

Many years ago in the day of 35MM camera's. I bought a beautiful 6 week old German Shepard. Every couple of weeks I would take a pic of him with my girlfriend. This went on for a full 36 pics. When I opened the camera to take the film to get developed.
Guess what---------
I didn't engage the film in the cylinder to pull it thru the camera

Damn, I missed that dog

Now imagine yourself in an open wheel sandrail with a tube frame and diamond mesh screen for a floor. A 900 lb machine with about 125 hp behind you pushing. You are in a huge bowl of smooth sand going about 50MPH with 10 or twelve others. No rules and miles of open sand dunes. Going from one bowl to another up and down swells and an occasional off the ground flight for 20 feet or more.

It is an adrenalin rush for sure.

I imagine it is the same feeling going 100mph on a banked turn looking out through the top 4 inches of your windshield to see whats ahead and folks just a couple feet off your side.

What a hoot!
