L vs evo/sti

Well, not really sure if I should post this here but here goes..

I live in a realativley medium size town of Great Falls Montana.. I own one of the only 2 Lightnings in town. Im not for street racing but I cant drive anywhere in town without at least one ******* looking for a show.

Anyways, there are these two guys, one with an STI, the other with an evo, both brand new. They talk allota trash, and they both still have their temp registratrion hanging in the back window. Like clockwork, they always find me if im out crusing and try to get me to give them some..Ive told them to wait till the track opens in Billings but they keep talkin **** like im scared..SO what are my chances say I do race them on the street..?

I have a 03, 12k miles, My only mods are full Bassani exhaust with the shorty headers, Mac Air Dam and K&N cone filter..I have my 20" boyds with 295 Pirelli scorpions on right now, and its lowered 4 inches in the rear and 2 in the front via the roush kit. I think the STI has a can now..I know how to race at the track and have done it for years, my 99L ran 11's before it melted down

Stick w/the track, everyone is really cracking down on the FAST & FURIOUS wannabes. Its not worth it.
Also, either one of them little schmits are quick, don't take them lightly when you get them to the track .
Good luck, And tell them to practice on some Hemi's

Should be pretty close all the way down. He is probably going to jump you out of the hole due to all wheel drive but you will probably start catching them by the end. They run low-mid 13s bonestock. If he has some upgrades like Intercooler, boost controller, etc, they may easily be into the 12s. Those cars aren't as light as people think they are though they still manage to rip off low 13s stock with a good driver. Making their cars hook up is not as difficult as making a lightning hook.

I would say it is close to even. Depends on how you drive it as to whether or not he gets you. Have you ever run your truck at the track and if so what times did you post?

coincidentally, I just got off the phone with a buddy who has an '03 cobra. he got pulled for street racing last night.

reckless driving violation.

the cop was nice and let him go with just a lecture.

he said that starting in April in VA (or at least Henrico County) will have a "NO TOLERANCE" policy.

they take you straight to jail and impound your vehicle.

alot of places view street racing as equal to drunk driving.

later,
chris

WHAT?!?! There is no way you can be serious. I understand inpounding it. I understand jailing you. But siezing and selling your property? Sounds unconstitutional to me.

I should have clarified, I said I didnt want to race on the street. However allot of people that do street race here go out on some old abandoned road quite frankly in the middle of nowhere..peer pressure.

I think I can offer some accurate info here. Your truck is basically stock as far as performance mods go. Big wheels won't help you either. Many bone stock STi's running 13.0-12.9x's and trapping 108-109mph. Very easy to cut 1.7 60ft times with either car. The Evo's are running almost identicle times. You will have your hands full. A perfect no spin launch would keep you in the hunt. Unless the guys are total bone heads on shifting you more than likely will lose. Now add a chip and pulley and slicks and the tables turn. However 400whp out of the cars is also very easy. Oh yeah almost forgot, cars weight right at 3000 pounds.

I have spent time on those "abandoned roads" "in the middle of nowhere", cutting kids outta cars also....

Cant imagine why insurance rates are so high these days...

Please, keep it on the track.

Thanks for listening.....

Oh and BTW...when you do make it to the track, spank those ricers!

Hey Unoid,

Check your PM for off topic computer stuff.

edit: PMs are turned off. Bummer

Anyway, love your case mod and the water upgrade. I did something similar to a Shuttle. You can read about it here:

http://forums.thebadlans.net/viewtopic.php?t=783

I'm known as ItsTooHot in computer and gaming circles. And I'f you're looking for a place to show that thing off, check out our site. www.thebadlans.net Or the soon to be organized Lan Party Association of NE www.lpane.net

LPANE only contains links to NE lan parties right now, but the site will go live in about month and provide up to date info about all the lan parties we can find in the NorthEast.

Sorry about the off topic post to the rest of you.

I just got the updated IL court rules. Paging through them, I noticed that the BAIL for fleeing or eluding the police is $2,000, which can be satisfied with your D/L. Bail for drag racing is $3,000, D/L not OK.

You'd think that starting a car chase and running from the cops would be more serious than drag racing down a dark country road.

I've raced evo's at the track and a stock one you will beat. Thats at the track though on the street it's hard to say I guess it depends how fast your willing to go. When I raced them at the track they ALWAYS take me off the line but I catch up and pass just before the 1/8 mile mark thats around 80 mph. So if you race on the street your gonna have to go pretty fast to beat them, that AWD is a biatch. Your best chance might be from about a 40 mph role, too much faster and areodynamics gets ya. I raced one from about a 70 mph roll and it was no contest in his favor.

P.S. if they try to pressure you just tell them your already on parole and can't afford to get caught, or that you have too many tickets for speeding already, just make something up you def. don't wanna get caught
