radio-speed/volume

Went for a ride in my buddies 2k F-150 screw cab. We are driving along and he reaches over to turn up the volume.

I say's don't you have a speed volume adjustment like my 99.

What's that? So I reach over had hold the off on volume **** for a few seconds and it pops up in the display. He freaks out cause he has had the truck since new and didn't know about it.

I look in the owners manual and it is right there for all to see.

I ran across that when I first got my truck.

If you disconnect the battery to reset your codes it will go back to 0 so ya might want to check yours the next time you out.

For those that didn't know about it Just another cool L feature.

Dang I love my truck.

There is also that deal with the odometer reset. If you hold it in while you start your truck it gives the digital readout of your dash gauges. Just push the reset and it goes to the next item.
My 99 doesn't have that feature. But he let me try it on his 2k.

From: Colorado,
Hey Thanks !

I know I have tried that on more than two occasions and could not get it to work. Never was in a 99 other than my own.

So on your expert advice I went out again. I simply could not get it to work after trying several attempts. Even printed the sheet and looked at the pics
Finally I went one more addition click towards start and BINGO! There it was.
Thanks for push I had given up on it.

Wish I could find something along that line. I may go hunt for speakers tomorrow.

Does the stock radio in my '03 L with the 6-disc CD changer have this feature? (Nothing seems to happen when I hold down the volume ****.)

from what i can tell, the 03-04 6cd in dash dont have it. i tried it as well, nothing happened. checked the manual, doesnt say anything about it. although there is something called comp (compression) which raises softer sounds and lowers louder sounds for a more consistent noise level, but i dont think that is the same thing. are we missing something? did we do it right? this sounds cool....and if i have it id like to know how to use it

From: Colorado,
Ok heres the drill

start truck or turn key to accessory position

Turn on radio by pushing the volume/on off ****

With radio playing push in and hold the volume ****

Wait about 5 seconds or more

SPEED/VOULUME will display in your tuner window

With volume **** still held down use the select button on the right hand side to increase level from 1 to 9

release the Volume/on off button and its done

the radio is not giving error codes, it is from the test mode on the odometer. i think this function is useful, i just put in my electric fan last weekend, and i used the digital readout to made sure the engine is not running hot (you have to covert from celsius to farenheit to know what the number means, damn metric system)
