It says you can change the tailshaft housing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2466257412

If this tranny is good, i could use it until i can get mine rebuilt correctly.

it may bolt up and work but not all 4r100's are the same. The L is built heavier like a diesel trans - more friction material in the clutch packs and pinions in the carrier.

If its a reg 5.4 4r100 it probably won't handle the power. (depends on how you drive of course)

The case may look the same but its whats inside that counts.

That model has a 3 gear aluminum carrier rear planet (lightning has 6 gear cast iron), 3 gear alumuinum forward planet (6 gear cast iron) a 2 plate OD clutch (3 plate) and a 3 gear aluminum OD plaet (4 gear steel). It also has a 4 bolt converter with a single plate clutch, you have a 6 bolt witha triple plate. If you change the converter, it will bolt up, but it ain't gona lst long.
