? for those with ported upper plenum

Well being the genius that I am, I cracked my upper plenum today when I tightened down the bolts too tight. I found a used one for $150. Someone here also pointed out the LFP carries a ported one for $300. My ? is for those that have had their upper ported. Do you think it's worth the additional $150 to have it ported? Did you notice any difference?

Thanks
Paul

Plentum

I don't know if you will notice any difference, but if I were you I'd just pay the extra $$$ and get an Apten ported Supercharger and Plentum. Several Lightning owners are making 30+ rwhp with just a ported Apten Supercharger and plentum. You can't go wrong with Apten. Ask for Brian Herron.

I can't say that I could tell a difference, but I also had my blower and ECU reflashed at the same time. I figured couldn't hurt.

My blower is ported. That's why I was putting it back together today. I really haven't heard about any real gains for the plenum. It just seemed like a lot a money for little or no gain. I just wanted to be sure that was the case. So is it worth $150?

I dyno'd a ported upper Vs a stock one. Two runs each, simular cooling, and saw 1 hp/1 lb tq difference. Yes, the ported one had the better numbers, but that's too low a change to to be significant. The range of error of the dyno is bigger than that. Maybe if you are making more hp than I am it becomes significant, but I don't think the stock upper is strangling airflow.

I heard at the most 5hp, for a street vehicle running bolt on I wouldn't drop 150.00 but on a more redical setup, you bet I'd be opening my wallet, more air in-more power out. Good luck, Todd
