Wes Eaton Results

Got my eaton back yesterday and was very pleased to say the least. There was no flaking and he did an amazing job cleaning it all up... it looked like a brand new SC... and the port job was excellent... very professional... he is also a great guy to work with.. responds quickly, does the work fast... i got my SC back in less than 1 week... amazing!!!

ok, so last night when I got home we popped that sucker on and took it for a spin. (need to also state that an ftvb was installed at the same time)

well Im not very happy with the immediate results. But I do not think it has anything to do with the port job at all. I think its my program on the chip. Im new to this, so im sorta hoping you guys can help me out... but I think I need a reburn.

you know how normally you press the gas pedal down about 1/3 of the way and you get that "kick" and you feel like a jet ready for take off. Well.... I dont have that anymore... it whines alot louder, but I have to seriously press the pedal down ALL THE WAY DOWN to get that "kick" and even then, I dont get it right away... its almost like a full second or so delay from when I get on it....

so does that mean Im not getting enough or too much fuel?? im really hoping a chip reburn will bring this puppy to life....

but even though as is... i think i can feel a little extra power... i know i chirped the tires switching from 2-3rd gear!!!!!

With a ported blower, I actually "lost boost" in the lower REVs. But this is probably due to the fact that the blower is working less to move the same, if not more, air.

But I do have to say, that the truck just SCREAMS with only the ported Eaton and a stock lower. I have to stay out of the gas in order to keep the tires planted.

...then I added the 4# lower. HOLY CR@P! It pulls and pulls like a MF.

Way to go Brian and Apten on leading the porting revolution!! I have - 0 - complaints about the work and the difference I felt immediately after installing it!

...oh yea, and the new S/C whine is way too cool

Cool

I did'nt see anything like your saying. Mines about the same down low in the rpms?

I wonder if your boost by pass soliniod is adjusted improperly? Or maybe you have something like a gasket or hose that's broke or something?

Like I said, I have ZERO degridation of boost at the lower rpms. (all mods the same before/after)

EDIT: I just thought about this again after I posted. I DO have a 2500 stall. So maybe low rpms to you and me are diff?

Scott, like Ragu would say
IT'S IN THERE, IT'S IN THERE
I agree it could be time for a tuning change
My opinion --> IT NEEDS MORE TIMING <--

With my Wasp, I felt an immedite seat of the pants diff,
and as Rich just mentioned, when WOT that SOB just
pulls and pulls and continue's to pull

I do think because it's more effecient, in some cases it may
not always show the same boost at the same pedal position you
were use to. It does seem my old set up would see 10 lbs
of boost backing out of a driveway, but now it seems I'm making more power with less boost and I dont need to hardly touch the pedal to get going, kinda the opposite of what your saying. A matter of Fact, when crusing at @ 80 MPH, I actually have to constantly take my foot off and on the pedal because if I even feather weight it, I can't maintain that speed without going over it

It comes down to this, Dyno's and seat of the pants are cool,
BUT I'm interested in one thing, and one thing only -->ET'S<-- and next time out I know I'm going to see a big gain in them.

You sure you didnt do something different when you put your blower back on?

I would check all your vacuum lines, and also make sure that your bypass isn't stuck partially open, causing you to lose boost. You may be tearing it down again to see if the butterfly in the S/C isn't stuck in a slightly open position. Also, unplug the solenoid for that, to make sure it isnt something else.

Getting your chip reburned is not going to fix a low boost issue

There's something mechanical (or vacuum related) going on...

You should be around 15. More than likely it's a simple issue, that was just overlooked.

Other than only 12#'s of boost, is the truck running good, no weird noises, no weird vacuum noises, etc?

Do a search for "Apten results" and you'll come up with a bunch of posts (including mine) that have dyno sheets attached.
