superchip flip chip question>

I was considering buying back my JDM (superchip) flip chip I sold off my 01L to a local guy. He never installed it on his truck and he contacted me after hearing I had bought a 03L.

Well I called JDM a day or two ago about reprogramming the chip (This is the same chip I paid them $375+ plus dollars for in 2002). Anthony told me that they charge $125.00 for a reburn for my witch is ridiculous IMHO but whatever.

What Im really asking about is that he said I can not use this chip if it is not an "F" chip? How would I tell if this chip is an "F" chip and why can it not be used?

Thanks,
Bob

It is probably due to the differences between the computer you had in the original truck as compared to what you now have in the 03. If that is not the case, that is rediculous... yet another great customer support comment for JDM
I have a friend that bought a JDM chip that had a bad program in it... truck did not run well at all. JDM had the nerve to CHARGE him AGAIN to re-burn the chip to correct THEIR problem. Sorry, but I do not do business with BAD VENDORS like that.

I highly doubt that. If a chip we sent out had problems there would be no way we would charge the customer. There has to be more to the story here.

We just had an instance a couple days ago about a customer with our long block cracked the block due to massive detonation using a computer reflash. From the beginning it is said that their will be no warranty on the motor if the failure was caused by detonation. Even though we didn't have to we gave him a free set of pistons for his rebuild. I think that is customer service at its best and that kind of service is what happens daily here @ JDM.

Bob,

An "F" module is the latest and greatest blue chip from Superchips. All 2003 Lightnings and up need including the Cobras need this module for proper communication. You can identify an "F" module by looking at the black side of the chip and finding the Superchip sticker with the bar code on it. After Superchips it will either say "E", or "F". You can also have nothing after it and that will nto work as well.

Hope this helps,

Better watch out, you might get grounded for that comment

Thanks Justin -

I bought the chip from Jim at the FFW in Orlando in 2002.
Its not in my possesion at the moment so I cant see if it has the "F" or not, I will try and get him to bring to me to look at.

I think a $125.00 for reburn for a chip I bought is excessive IMHO.

Cmon Justin, Hook a brother up. It might mean taking a cut in profit on the reburn but you might make it up when he goes to upgrade exhaust or other mods. Hook him up

BTW- I think what you guys did for Vinnie is excellent customer service

It's called catering to the people who spend the most $$$ in your facility. Maybe that is how it should be, I don't know. I purchased one item from them to see how they were, and now will never be back due to the enormous issues that I had. Others have treated me far better, and will continue to use those people. I am not tuner specific - just want the best stuff for my truck while at the same time not causing a headache over it. This is supposed to be fun.

Im not here to bash JDM, and don't expect any deals. However I did not like there price for a reburn it is my problem not theirs. They have a business to run and need to earn money just like the rest of us.

Im going to do a predator anyways so NO BIG DEAL. JDM has always treated me well in the past.
