Highflow cats or straight tubes?
Highflow cats or straight tubes?
My L is not a daily driver and was just wondering what are all your opinions (benefeits or disadvantages) on running either set-up. Do straight pipes have a whole lot more flow than the Highflows cats? Or do we actually want some backpressure for Torgue purposes?
I was also wondering about straight threw pipes, i wanted to ditch the cats do you know if it will pop a code like a mustang? also are there any manufactures that already make the pipes so i dont have to get custom ones built?
My local shop bends pipes and will not be expensive at all, well under $70.00
It will throw a code for sure, but what about the performance side or might it help the stock blocks to relieve some uneeded backpressure? I know my block is currently at the brink of KABOOM!

I will likely be adding magnaflow high flow cat pipes soon. Mainly because I think straight pipes would be WAY too loud for what I'm looking for, and everything I have heard is that our engines do need SOME backpressure to make good low end torque.

With stock cats, straight pipes sound like garbage. At light throttle its deafening (but mean sounding), BUT at WOT, it sounds like a Harley bike, very raspy and pulsed.
Without the stock cats, it will definitely start to ruin your hearing
The best combo for volume is high-flow cats with a Magnaflow/Bassani (long tube headers are $$$ but worth it).
