I'll just go with your design. Is there any need for a fuse between the disconnect and the solenoid? Thanks.

Tims looks nice. A simple home made one that is thought out should do the trick. You could alway's make a setup with an actuator and C hinge with a 4 link and have a really trick tray that moves down for easy access.

I have this one:
I like it pretty well, I would suggest getting some other screws, or atleast painting the hold down screws though, they rust bad...

Do I need a wafer 250 amp fuse between the battery and the solenoid?

I'm going with a 250A fuse right at the battery + terminal. Fuses are on their way, hopefully should be done next week for some more pics.
