Pics of changing plugs?

Hi!

Went to the dyno yesterday, and to say the least it didn't go well. I need to change my plugs (melted 3 of them). I am a mechanical moron, so I was wondering if there are a couple of things you guys can supply to me.
1. All the tools I will need to buy
2. Any tips, other thaan patience, I need. Maybe pictures or???

Thanks for your help!

I found a swivel 5/8" sparkplug socket and 4" lock-on extension to work very well.

Sorry to hear that Quik. Was that your new motor?
I ask because I should be ready to dyno my new motor next week. What boost were you running and what plugs?

Good luck with the plug change.

what kind of boost #s were you seeing? I bet shes really got some power when you push button on the 50 shot.

Heres a pic of my Duct tape custom made socket and swivel for changing L plugs.

Thanks guys!!

Yep, it was my new motor. Took it to the dyno on Friday. Started off bad when the fuel pressure gauge didn't work (need to replace the relay sender). Anyway, set her up on the dyno, and approaching WOT the tech shut it down on the first pull. The A/F reading was closing in on 14.7 - 1 and only 400RWHP. Running very very lean. At that time we noticed the engine missing slightly. Cracked the driver's side #3 plug. Called John @JLP, and thoughts were 2 things. Possibly the chip was bad. John put a very safe tune on the chip, so seeing those numbers was a shock. He is overnighting me another chip. If it wasn't the chip, then the only thing(?) we thought is the truck is not getting enough fuel. By all accounts though, the truck should have been ok with the factory pump / injectors. Either way I went ahead and bought from Sal @PSP the new 60lb injectors. Should be here by the end of the week.

Walked away pretty disappointed. At least it was at the dyno to see what was happening. If I had assumed everything was cool and just drove it I probably would have done serious dam
age to the pistons. After this long just want my truck back, but I guess it could have been worse. Another dyno run next Friday and then...hopefully.......

Snap-On stuff works great. Especially the HUGE socket!

7mm socket TMUSM&
1/4" extension 14-15" long
Socket S9720KA
8" 3/8" extension FXK8
Universal IPF800

On snap-on's website...

I don't know the boost, the Ford tech was in the truck at the time. My plugs I had were the Denzo IT-22's. I am running those because of the NOS I will have. Probably go to another though, cause they don't sell the denzo's up here in Vancouver

Thats a good photo of the tools you'll need, although I used a short 1/4 drive 7mm swivel socket on my 1/4 extensions. You only relly need that for one coil pack bolt on the drvers side. The biggest thing you need you already mentioned; patience. It's not as hard as what it may seem, but if you've got big hands and fingers, it's a tight fit in many places. This is the kind of a job you want to plan to do when you don't have anywhere you have to be for at least 4 hours, so you're not pushed any.

Your more than welcome to join in, it is a lightning only tune session and we should have at least 8 trucks show up.
