Warranty question
hypothetical, if my engine on my 2002 excursion goes out at 35,999 miles and Ford replaces it under warranty will I be covered under any warranty if the engine fails 100 miles down the road?
Either a new or rebuild engine should come with some stand alone warranty on it's own, probably from about 90 days for a rebuilt to a year for a new motor - I suspect. You would need to ask the Service Manager.
I should have know the exact mileage and such because i ran into the same situation when i had my explorer....the transfer case was replaced right before 36k was up and then it blew out right after thier extra work warranty was up..... I lost out on that one.....
Most parts are covered 12 months/12,000 miles after installation but remanufactured parts fall under rules. A remanufactured engine would be covered for 36 months and 36,000 miles parts and labor.
By the way, I am a parts manager/warranty admin. at a L/M store and my g/f is a warranty admin. at a Ford store.
