Wierd feeling @ 80mph

Guys (and Leann), it might be me -- but at around 80-85 mph it feels like the truck is straining. At first i thought it was because of the cold weather or just aerodynamics, so i didn't push the truck that much. But then we had great weather this week (like 60's) and i really got on it. It felt like something was vibrating against the gas pedal as the truck accelerated over 80.....not a clanking, just a constant tapping...around 100 it really feels like the things going to break...am i just being a wuss or should i be concerned. With the tri state thing coming up i know i'll be running at WOT and DON'T want to be carrying my engine home in a cardboard box!!

My GF has an infiniti g35 which is a completely different car, but at 80 it feels like it's going 20....know what i mean??!!!

If it grows with speed? Then more that likely it's an imbalanced tire, driveshaft, tranny tailshaft bearing, u-joint, or somewhat unlikely a bent axle or brake rotor. These are about the only things rotating at constantly increasing speeds.

First drive it at speed and carefully put it in neutral & kill the motor. If it DOESN'T change at all then 1st rotate the tires & re-drive/test. Stiil no go? Then go looking deeper. 2nd the driveshaft balance, 3rd the u-joints, 4th the tailshaft bushing (I had one do something like your describing on a stang about 10 years ago. Drove me nuts trying to figure out what it was)

If it does change then you'll know to look into the motor/tranny.
