Test Drive

Well guys, the days of lurking and dreaming are about over. I have convinced the wife that the Lightning is the right vehicle for us and today took a Sonic Blue for a test drive. Everything went great, lots of grin factor here, at least until we started talking price. May be another week or so, but I am close.

Went with the X-Plan, asked for the price and was quoted $30,227 minus a $500.00 X-Plan rebate. Not real happy about this and it may mean a visit to New Orleans or Texas is in my future. I had thought that X-plan should put me around $28,600 plus TTI. Am I wrong? Or is this dealership trying to take me for a ride?

Thanks from a (Near) future Lightning Owner

I used the X-plan when I bought my truck and it knocked the sticker price down to about $29,800. Sounds kinda fishy to me.

They're supposed to lay it all out for you, showing you the cost for invoice, any accessories added, etc...

Should be around 28/29k

I was quoted 29,400 for the xplan. I would go with another dealership if I was you.

Yeah, X-Plan should be low 29. But did the truck come with a bedliner and tonneau cover? I don't remember what those two total, but I think it was like 500 or 600 total. You still shouldn't be at 30,227. Of course all of these numbers are pre-TTL.

Thanks for the responses. This was the price and I did ask about the tonneau cover, they responded that I would have to order one seperately, and there was not bed liner. It did have the keyless entry and a 6 disk CD.

This really pisses me off, since I am ready to make a deal right now and be ordering mods tomorrow.

I have a white '04 Lightning at my dealership. X-Plan price on the one I have is $30,154.45. This one has the factory bed liner. The X-Plan price is printed right on the invoice. Sounds like his price is right there. The X-Plan price is what it is. Good luck.

Mart Man,

Is that what your dealership is selling them for? I though I saw several around the internet going for 1500 to 2000 less?

is this price still correct since the one I am looking at does not have the bed liner?

thanks,

Any 03's at any dealers in your area? It was once reported that their was a glut of inventory left over and it's the same truck. Dealers will probably make you a heck of a deal to get rid of old inventory. Good luck in your purchase.

Wanted to do that, but couldn't find any 03's within 200 miles.

Thanks

Should probably clarify, I'm looking at dropping the rear as soon as it's home, as well as a few other minor issues based upon what you guys have taught me here. Nothing too major for at least a week. LMAO

X-plan on my 2004 with factory installed bedliner was 30,0xx
so I cant see driving real long distance for a free bedliner. If its a 2003 you should not even be starting at 30,000 more like 28 i would think?
