Electric Exhaust dump

Thinking about doing this but not sure how it will effect back pressure and stuff, has anyone done this or know if it's worth it. I want a louder exhaust (have borla) but like it quite at times too, having the electric dump would give me best of both roads. Plus wouldn't I gain some HP by bypassing the cat and muff, I don't know just a thought...

Most folks here will say don't do it, you will lose low end torque. BUT... I haven't seen a dyno sheet which backs this up. I do believe you will lose low end boost (your gauge will read lower), but that only means the motor is breathing better.

Boost (in terms of PSI on the gauge) only means the charger is pushing more air than the engine can take, so it stacks up, compressed, hence more PSI).

Lowering back pressure will allow the engine to breathe better. On all other engines I've modified or read about others modifying, this increases output, not lowering it. I did exactly this on a LS1 motor, open headers made a little more low end torque, and a good amount more HP than full exhaust (cats and mufflers).

I wish someone would do a dyno on this, back to back, full exhaust (three runs) and then zero to low back pressure (three runs).

We've used them on GrandNational for a while now. The best part is not having to unbolt the dump pipe cover whenever you want to run open. The one we mainly use allows you to open it anywhere from a hair to wide open....so you can tune it

I have done this--and can give you the full report, plus what you need to do to make it work.

I will say this, unless you've done it you're speculating...there is no boost loss, gobs of torque, and it is *ucking loud as *ell

And yes, I have dyno's

Call me @ 603.765.3559...way to much typing/easier to explain over the phone
