Leaking lights....
Has anybody else had leaking lights? Both headlights and both taillights started getting moisture in them. All four of them started doing it in a one week period. What did you do to prevent it if you have had this problem already?
got them all replaced under warranty. my '99 had 10 sets of taillights put on due to this. My 2002 has gone through two sets now, and the headlights need replaced too. Ford lighting SUCKS!
So, I just don't drive in the rain anymore or get it dirty to the point of needing washed.

Since I went through so manuy tailights, I wanted to find out where the were leaking from. When I washed my truck in the winter, I always washed the bottom off with warm-hot water. When I shot the water up in the rear corners, the water would get in the area of the light socket/taillight joint through the wiring access hole. I used duct tape to seal off those holes, and never had an issue after that. I have not done this fix on my 2002 yet. As long as you can keep water away from the light socket, you will be fine.
Something I've always wondered about was if you change your bulbs on a high humidity day then that high humidity air gets into your light housing.....so when its cools off below the dewpoint you'll have condesation on the inside of your lights. Just wondering if maybe this could be the problem. I mean even the orginal bulbs had to be put in sometime and if the humidity in the air was high then it wouldn't take much of a temp drop to create condensation inside the lens..........maybe huh

BODY - MOISTURE OR DIRT IN REAR TAIL LAMP
LENS - F-150 FLARESIDE AND SUPER CREW
MODELS ONLY
FORD:
2000-2001 F-150
ISSUE
Water and dirt can migrate into the tail lamp lens through the lens vent hole on some F-150 Flareside and Super Crew models only. Dirt, mist or fog can accumulate in the lens as a result of this moisture.
ACTION
Install foam sealing block onto the lens vent. The foam block will stop any further moisture from accumulating in the lens. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the tail lamp assembly.
2. Clean the backside of the tail lamp and body panel to remove any debris or moisture.
3. Insert the Foam Sealing Block (1L3Z-15278C90-AA) into the hole where the tail lamp wire harness is routed through the body panel.
4. Reinstall the same tail lamp.
NOTE DO NOT REPLACE THE TAIL LAMP UNLESS IT IS BROKEN. THE TAIL LAMP LENS WILL CLEAR UP ON ITS OWN OF ANY INTERNAL MOISTURE.
i went and bought the Foam Sealing BLock - just a square piece of foam. put it in the hole and no more issues. you could do the same with tape, probably

I've posted on this subject (tailights) many times over the years and everyone who has tryed my fix has had no complaints. Just seal off the holes behind the tailights with duct tape. Overlap them to get a good seal and replace the tails. Easy job to do and it will last forever. You can't see anyting when your done. Be sure to dry them out before you replace them though (just remove the bulb assembly and let them dry in the sun or use a blow dryer).

Moisture in Tail Lights
Over the years I have experienced this problem several times with a variety of cars, the worse case was a 760 Volvo, which the lamp would fill with water to the point it would burn out the bulb.
The above method of sealing the lamp is good, but if that that does not work for you, here is what I have done many times with success.
Use a hand drill and a real small drill bit, make a drain hole in the lowest part of the lens, not the housing. This allows the lamp to breathe, the heat from the lamp and sun will keep the lens free from moisture. The hole is so small no one will notice unless you point it out.
Worked for me.
