Is there A TSB for the Clunk

My 04 L, has the poping noise in the front end when turning tight lock to lock.
Is this the dreaded clunk I hear about?

I did a search for a TSB but had no luck, is there one?

Is there a dealer fix for this or are the washers the only way to fix the problem?

Just wanted to know before I go to the dealer.

Tony

Tony: I am sure what you hear is the "Dreaded Clunk".

As far as I know, Ford has no TSB on this, and from what I've read, for many years on this BB, your Ford dealer is not going to be much help. Just about everybody on here has purchased and installed Herb's Washers.

to find the TSB, you have to search under 99 or 00 trucks.

however, your '04 already has the updated "toothed" washers and obviously they don't work worth a damn.

look elsewhere. (herb's washers or copycat).

later,
chris

Lots of others had tried the dealer route, but Ford never designed a real fix. The "herbs" type washers are the final fix and pretty easy to install.

From: Colorado,
I got Herbs just before he quit but there are others doing it.

Hurry before you eat up them front tires.

My question is why does the factory keep the big slot there? Why didn't they change that when the problem first showed up or why is it like that in the first place

Just have a quick spot weld put on the washer. And grease your bump stops as it may be what your hearing.

Where or what is a bump stop on a F-150

Big truck have bump stops. Where are the ones on the L's and which joints do you grease, I'm thinking with a needle insert for greasing?
