window tint
window tint
Never had anything with tinted glass.
Do you have it?
Do you like it?
Would you do it again?
I got a quote of $150. The sales hype is that they have made leaps and bounds of improvment in recent years.
Won't bubble or peel or turn color. Blah, blah, blah
My main reason for wanting it is to protect my interior, keep the inside cooler, remove night time glare and my drive to and from work has the sun hiting the drivers side window right where the visor is more of a hindurance.
Can you get the stuff off later on down the road (years)? I don't want to reduce the value of this truck in any way.
How dark of shade do you have?
Lots of questions that a salesmand can answer I know, but there job is to sell the stuff.

$150 Is pretty high for a standard cab truck. Then again it's funny that people charge a much different rate depending on the state, when the film cost isn't any different.Anyways enough about the price.
Does window film last forever?Out in the sun?Absorbing all of those u.v. rays?Blocking out all the heat?
Absolutely not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I don't care if it's 3M,Solargard,LLumar,Madico or any other brand.
Now all the companies I listed will honor their "lifetime warranty" once the film fails provided the warranty paperwork was completed correctly when you purchased it.No proper paperwork...no warranty. If the vehicle is tinted illegally for your state..no warranty.
Yes the film is can be removed.Sometimes very easy and sometimes not very easy it just depends on the condition and age of the film.
I hope that answered a couple questions for you at least.

Paid $119 out the door for 15% on the sides, 35% on the back. Adding 35% to the back made it match pretty close to the 15% on the sides.
I really like it. At night it's a little dark, but in the day it is perfecto

There definately is a difference in the tints-- some are poloarized, some have more of a purple look than black......So just make sure it is quality tint. Metallized tint is supposedly the best--- That is what my friend that has a tinting business says and that is what was put on my truck. Everyone gets tint in vegas and i have seen some hack jobs-- Be sure to ask what happens if it bubbles up when the tint finally "sets" and needs to be redone.--Will they cover it? How much will ti be if you damage a window and need one retinted?
Hope that helps

Definitley worth pondering.

I have had tint on everyone of my vehicles. Usually 20% or darker. I love it, it keeps my interior from fading as much and it keeps prying eyes from seeing whats inside.

I have 20% on my truck. Its black so the darker windows make it look alot nicer IMO. I only paid $60, because they only had to tint the driver/pass windows, the rear is already 20%. -Rob
and yes, this is my first post!

yep, i've got 20 over 35 on the sides, and limo over 35 on the back. it's really dark. too dark at night. i have to roll the windows down when backing up. i love that no one can see me inside though, and it keeps it coolER in the summer. cops hate it though. i've had two cops give me trouble in the last few months.
Depending on what color ur truck is, there is also titanium tint, which has a sweet glarey look to it...kinda like my jetta had. I forget which brand I had, but it was one lighter than the darkest, and it was titanium. Two years ago, i paid 165 for all four windows on the jetta, and the rear. Normally it was 140, plus 25 for titanium. They gave me a solid 5 year warranty, for anything including discoloration or bubbling. I had it for about 2 years, and it was flawless. Should be less than $100 for a truck. Havent put it on my truck yet, but considering it. Only thing is I really dont feel like dealin with cops and tickets, so ill probably hold off.

I've had 20% on my front two windows and my window strip for over 2 years. I got that all done for about 115 bucks at Line-X, and it has probabley been the best bang for my buck I've dropped into my truck. I love the tint. It really matches the black paint damn near perfect. And considering theres only part of the windshield letting in 100% of the light, it keeps people from seeing inside of it. I love it. I do have to roll down the windows to back up (big woop
)
I have never had a problem with cops. This really only goes to my certain area. Most of the cops are cool, I've been pulled over numberous times and came to the conclusion to roll down the windows and I haven't had a problem (with the tint that is). Well, not so much pulled over, but put an immediate halt to my current actions (OOOOPS). Um... where was I? Over two years around here, and not a problem, not so much as a mention to the tint. Despite the surprising amount of police around here, I don't think any of them like to mess with small ticket items. Ofcourse if I ever get stuck at a light next to a cop I do roll down the windows, and I have a V1 to spot them out ahead of time. Ofcourse tint normally means a teenagers car, but perhaps my 22's make them think I'm not a teenager. Well I'm damn near 20 anyways! My biggest problem with tint is the seat belt will at times fling up and put little nicks in the tint.
If you get pulled over for dumb small things by the 5-0 then don't get the tint. If not, have at it. Walmart also sells window tint remover. I'm not sure of how well it works, but they sell it. I love it, and sooner or later I think I will switch to darker, and perhaps a moderate tint on the windshield (HIGHLY ILLEGAL, but I'll try damn it!)
