I have been looking at a Lightning since i was sixteen years old, so 3 years and a mustang later im ready, i have enough for a down payment, and i am looking at 2002's either silver or true blue.....any adivce...? can xplan be used on a used car or no? anyway how much should i be offering for a truck if they are asking about 27.........this is my first car from a dealer.....and after test driving a L numerous times im convinced im in love.

 

how many miles on her, any mods on it? Is everything in good condition...

 

I feel like a sales Pimp but I was buying an air filter at a Dealer here in Colorado and they still had a brand new 2003 sitting on the grass. It's black but it is new and I bet you could deal with them and get a good interest rate if you know someone who will co sign with you.

I bet they would consider 27K to get rid of it. Folks around here are just plain stupid about there 4X4 trucks and SUV's. I doubt most of them go offroad or even use there 4 wheel drive but all the hype has them believing they can't live here and get those kiddies to school without it.

I bought my 99 at a dealer a year ago for 21K and it had 21.5K miles.

tell them that you have heard of some pepole buying new lightnings for under dealer invoice (28600) and if they had the same price

it kinda pissed me off since i bought mine at msrp 10 months ago

Okay here is my problem, everyone in my life my girlfriend included tells me that i should wait until i get out of school and i try to explain it to them but i cant, only someone who has driven one can understand. SO i say to them think what you want im getting it anyway. Im only nineteen and i have no credit, my dad is cosigning for me. IM working 6 days a week for his construction company to pay for it while going to school full time...ha its tough but its worth it, all it took to hook me was one mash of the gas. now i will have about 7000 dollars to put down in about a month and i could afford up to probably 450 in loan payments if i absolutly had to. so i might only be able to afford a 02 which i have found for about 24 k.......

 

Hindsight is well you know 20/20. Twenty plus years ago when I was your age if Iwould've bought Microsoft, well you know. It's okay to be young, but get your prioties in order first. Being a slave to a great truck is not worth it if takes away from other necessities of life. BTW you might want to check out insurance rates also so you can factor those in your monthly payments. all my friends are in school drinking their money away, and im investing mine in a truck, i am doing great in school, and everythign is straight so im not worried about that, insurance is only goin up 100 dollars a month for the lightning and my blazer so im not worried about that im doin it i just gotta figure out how, thanks for the advice guys ill post when i go to get the truck

To be honest with you i have driven a dakota 5.9 rt and i wanted to jerk the wheel into a tree while driving it, in fact my sisters fiances family owns a dodge dealership and i have been behind the wheel of a 5.9 rt, a srt10 viper and that new dodge piece of garbage, it seems every time i get behind the wheel of a dodge i have this insatiable urge to jerk the wheel into a semi. i am getting a lightning, its final, i know that the truck will depriciate andim okay with that. but please no more mention of the D word, it makes me sick. thanks
