Dead Lightning

I got an IM Sunday morning from my friend who owns a 2002 Lightning, Stock with 39k. He said he thought he blew the motor on his truck, of course I asked why. He tells me he was driving along, and suddenly heard a slapping noise, like the belt came off and was hitting something. He instantly shut the motor down, and left the truck to be towed to the dealer. His dad and I both think it sounded a lot like piston slap, but I can't be certain since I was never at the truck. This truck has never been beat on, and only has 4 or 5 passes down the 1/4. It's never even seen its top speed. The dealer wants at least $150 just to look at it, and they're being asses. Do you think Ford may pony up and honor the warranty, being an SVT product (and an expensive one at that). Got any suggestions, comments, etc?

Thanks

It's at 128 right now cuz it broke down in Wakefield. Will be towed to Waltham soon since that's where he bought it. The guys on SVTPerf are thinking the spit plug too. Wouldn't that kick a CEL though?

Hey Don, Paul just told me that his truck really wasn't idling rough, so I'm not sure what is going on right now. I'm going to try to hear it tomorrow @ 128. If I can narrow it down I will, if not I'll try to arrange towing down to Waltham.

If the Dealer is being assh0les, Tell buddy to be a ******* right back . I Bought 3 trucks from Metro Ford in Calgary, Alta and they told me the other day to not come back ever again because I went right to Ford to get trade assistance on my Lightning.
There claim is, I made a *** out of them by bypassing the dealer network. and if I come back I will be criminally charged for harassment and/or tresspassing. I can be a assh0le when I want to be.

Hehe, he doesn't have to worry about being an *******, all he needs to do is call in the dog. Devil dog that is. 100% USMC and 0% bull.

When I had my engine pulled at the dealership, I had to leave a covering deposit in case the labor ended up being "not covered" by warranty.... I got the money back though.

Well $300 later it is back on the road and running 100%. The passenger rear spark plug ejected itself from the head. Waltham Ford installed an insert and it's good as new. (till the other 7 blow).

A insert . Sounds like kind of a abortion setup. They should of just given you new heads. They know it is a problem.

yeah, inserts aren't supposed to be done. When a plug blows the proper ford method is to replace the head. I don't think the insert is a bad thing, but i would have him bring it up with ford since its under warrenty

i didn't read all the replies but that sounds like when mine spit out a plug. i drove down the block at 3mph and made it home then called the dealer to come and pick it up.
FORD SHOULD PAY FOR IT. IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED.
