Blew you engine? who is your tuner?

Not sure if this is out of line but I am eventually going to drop the cash for some major mods(engine and blower) and want to see if there is anyone I should stay away from or should start thinking about using.

Also, if you could list your mods and if it might of been do to something out of the tuners hands like a stock predator tune or running a race program on pump gas.

If you stay with the big 3 you should be fine.

Tom you've done so much with Johnny over at JLP I'd give him the nod, but if you had/wanted to make a change; like the sticker on the back of my truck says Outrageous Performance......Tommy Is The Man

3lb lower, 2lb upper, caltracs, JL ram air, JL diablo street chip(race chip arrived after the blown motor), diablo accumulator valve, borla exhaust. Engine blew at around 120-130 mph after I got on it from 80 mph. Happened October 2001.

I have spent thousands of dollars with JLP since then though. I think you have to take into account that a blown motor can happen at any time.

BTW, naming mods and experiences isn't vendor bashing.

JMHO but yes, this question is out of line. It will just end up starting a bunch of chit. We don't need that. Like was stated, any of the big 3 are good choices. They our are supporting vendors for a reason. Everyone may have a favorite for their own reasons. It doesn't mean they're right or wrong, it's just their opinion. I personally have worked with Johnny and Sal, and they have been great. Haven't worked with Jim at JDM yet but wouldn't hessitate if I thought he had something I needed.

Anyone who starts a thread with BLEW ENGINE WHO IS YOUR TUNER IMHO is looking to make trouble. I know there are a lot of reasons why an engine can blow that have nothing to do with the tuner,I/E bad gas, bad fuel filter, wrong plug heat range. ETC-ETC. I STICK with my first post.It is JMHO. PS Easterisland my post was for Half life not you.

It is impossible to have a thread like this work. You will never know all the varibles, even if you have both sides to the story, you still will never know the definate answer of why the engine blew.

I mean does everyone send their gas to a lab to be examined on every fill up, Thats all it take to get one bad tank of gas on an aggressive race tune, and it is all over.

Look at it this way. Every tuner that's been around has had a customer blow an engine, and they all learn from it. When Customer A of Vendor B blows an engine, and posts on here, that information keeps Vendor B from doing it again, and educates Vendors C and D so that they don't have the same problem in the future, etc, etc.
