Tim Skelton: Small world!

Hey man... just had to pass this along:

I'm fairly new to the lightning community (in fact, about 3 months new)... So today I'm working with a mortgage lender to finalize a loan on a house I'm about to buy here in Atlanta and he's running through all of my loans. He asked about a specific loan I have for about $30k...

"Ahh.. that's my new toy. My Ford Lightning."

I fully expect him to say... "Ford What?" as I usually hear from people who have no idea what it is.

Instead, he says "OOOOhhhh.... Yeah, I've got a buddy in California that races a Lightning. You wouldn't believe how much money he's got in it.... tens of thousands of dollars."

"Oh really? Wow! I wonder if he's on any of the message boards I read online", I ask..

"His name's Tim Skelton."

"Woah! Heck yeah, I know that guy! Well, I know OF that guy."

Anyway, I thought it was cool how this message board, and our trucks, have made the world that much smaller.

My mortgage banker: Mike Henderson.

Man, this is a small world. I read this board, and I know a mortgage broker too.

(I just got a Home Eq. loan for prime minus 1/4%. Times are good!)

Yup. Me and Mike go way back to grade school. His parents are good friends with mine.

It is indeed a small world. As part of a lawsuit I am working on, I called a dyno shop in New Jersey. When I told the shop owner who I was, he recognized my name from the boards and was quite helpful.

There are some advantages to not using a screen name.

Well, that's a little strong. But even tens of thousands is chump change to you. You have more money in paint and chrome than I have in my whole truck.
