Question Ported blowers worth the $$ ?

Ok, Here we go.
Everyone is saying they can feel the difference and some see more boost. Yet the DYNO #'s seem to be showing less torque and more H\P than a L without a port ( I realize I could be way off here).

Also, the E.T's from the tracks that are slowly coming in don't seem to be that great.
When we added a 4# pulley to our L's you felt that and you saw a big drop in your E.T's and a significant gain on the Dyno.

I sort of expected to start seeing that with the ported blowers but so far I'm not.

Mine is going out today so I'm in on this too but I'm starting to feel a little nervous.

ok, bash away but while your doing it please provide some data, input, reasons, thoughts etc.

well i saw 03LightningRocks truck in person on his race tune with an 2# upper and 6#lower make about 470 rwhp from his previous 415 non ported 8 total #s race tune.

he got in on a group buy, paided 4-500, and gained alot, before he ran 11.9 and 11.8s, so im sure he should have some times.

I'm sorry but your wrong. You think 30-40 H/P is not worth it? Sal has my chip doing a reburn for the Apten. I have as much seat of the pants power without the chip running the Apten as I did before the Apten with a chip. Sal told me not to get in it hard until I get my chip back. You know I can't do that. I've been in it hard a few times and it feels great! I can't wait to see how it feels with the chip. and changing over to the PSP Fast Air from the stock air box.

I was going to wait until later to post some gains, but I'll give you guys a teaser...

I dyno'd this weekend with and without the Apten port on a STOCK boost L, with minor mods. (I'll post graphs, etc later)

I found that I GAINED 20/20 in the upper end of the RPM band with the Apten porting. Before the porting, I was pushing 10-11#'s of boost mostly through the whole RPM range.... AFTER, I found that I posted slightly LOWER boost (8#'s) up until around 3800 rpms, then it quickly started to climb to almost 14 #'s!!! ... and this was ALL on a STOCK lower pulley.

It appears that the Apten porting runs the Eaton more efficiently at lower RPMS (only 8#'s of boost), matching my pre-Apten graphs, but AFTER 3800 RPMs, it just gains and gains until redline. By about 51/5200 RPMs, I was up 20 RWHP, 20 RWTQ all the way until I let off around 5500 RPMs.

WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!

I'll post my full findings and graphs later tonite, should time allow.

BTW: Major mods were a 160* stat, no pre-cats, hi-flow CarSound (Magnaflow cats), Magnaflow cat-back, and JLP 1st gen Ram Air.

A/F was 12.0 at the tail pipe before the Apten. 407/512 last summer.

I've been trying to post my before and after dyno pulls for two weeks. I keep getting the timed out error message. If I ever get it posted, you'll see its a GREAT mod

Question WHO SAID PORTED SUPERCHARGER NOT THAT NOICEABLE AT LOW RPM's

A person wouldn't want to spend a lot of money porting supercharger if it didn't produce horsepower and torque at lower rpm's anyone notice a difference in horsepower at lower rpm's

Re: WHO SAID PORTED SUPERCHARGER NOT THAT NOICEABLE AT LOW RPM's

I think it's more bang for the buck than even a Chip + Filter,
and I have NEVER ONCE heard anyone say they weren't happy with the results.

For a Stock L, maybe this isn't the first Mod to Do, (although it would be a good choice) but for those with the normal Mod's already running nice numbersTHIS IS A ROCKING MOD
and clearly the cheapest HP per Dollar, other than Juice

I'm not a Dyno King, nor do I play one in the movies, but
MAN OH MAN do you IMMEDIATLY feel the seat of the pants diff,
it just continue to pull in the Mid to Upper range where a stock Eaton use to flatten out. WELL WORTH THE $

NEVER LOOK AT A MOD BY ITSELF, IT'S ALL PART OF THE BIG PIC...
And this Mod is a BIG part of the BIG pic
