Thumbs up Apten Ported on and took a spin

Just had to give a to the guys at Apten.

HOLY COW I've gained a solid 3psi on my autometer guage and I like the sound at idle / just off idle. THAT's how a blower should sound. It's got a nice little whir going on.

Guys this is a must do. Definately a very good bang for the buck.

Does anyone have a video clip of a truck with a ported eaton at idle and getting on it? I need more whine so it will overake my exhaust sound

LatemodelRacer2, It's not THAT loud. Honestly I'd say it's only about 5%-10% louder. If the radio was at a low volume you'd not even notice it.

If I get a chance tonight I might make a little vid.

You gotta love that mod I gained boost too, but in reality you probably aren't really seeing 3#. Probably 1/2 of that is weather related I am guess. We'll both see how much the gauge reads in the middle of summer

I'm a automotive engineer in Motown (with induction design experience btw). I *think* I know the differance between a 38-39 degree WOT session after porting the blower vs a 38-39 degree WOT before porting. Oh and the humidity levels were at about 55% last night too.

So in **reality** YES I am seeing a solid 3# increase on a hot motor & in like conditions.

I have no "proof" because I do not know what I was at before (boost gauge went in after the Apten). I am now hitting 15-16#'s though. But we'll see what that is in the middle of August lol

I e-mailed REM this morning about it & antisapate sending it off this week. I wanna keep-er safe

Last night I took it for a short drive to let it everything thermocycle once before putting it under a full load. Then later I made 5 total blasts up til just after the 2-3 shift. 1st time I saw 17psi (cool motor) and the other 4 it hit 16 right on the nose.

Oh and the rear tires don't hook on the 1-2 shift anymore (hot motor)
Steer with the rear baby!

I don't have a sound clip either, but mine is more than 5-10% louder. It's quite a bit louder under part and full throttle than the stock Eaton. I just replaced mine with a KB and it's VERY quiet in comparison to the Apten.

Hum.? I wonder if nime will get louder with more time/wear? Afterall I only have about 6-7 miles on it since the Apten porting. Maybe I'll change my opinion after driving it a few more times..

Rich,

My truck has 100% stock exhaust so any noise increase is very apparent. I'm guessing you have a cat-back or other changes? Mine was louder from the first drive, it didn't take any time at all to notice.

I took it for another spin today. I'm still of the opinion that it's not that much louder under acceleration. However I do think at idle it is clearly noticable inside the cab. And downright unmistakeable from outside.

I took some sounds clips for anybody who might be interested

All I do is start the motor, idle, rev to 1500, rev to 2000 give a little blip up to about 3500, then return to idle. (mike is about 5ft in front of truck and shoulder height)

Apten w/hood closed

Apten w/hood open
