Add Another (barely) 12 Second Run

The weather was perfect at the track yesterday. It was maybe 60 degrees when I made these runs. I didn't get the truck on a scale, but if I had to guess it was above 5000 lbs. (Full tank of gas, every bit of equipment from the factory, 100 lbs of stereo, & my fat a$$ in there.)

This was my 1st time with the Drag Radials, and 1st time running the 1/4 mile. I wanted to get 12's, but I felt the truck should do better than what I got.

My 1st 2 runs I had 2.2 60' and 13.3 E.T.'s. After I found out how to launch the rest of my times were 13.1 or better. I still need more practice, and some weight loss.

Here are my 2 best times.

I also met a real nice guy from these boards. He had a ton of info for me, and was real nice about sharing it.

Thanks David for all the advise.

Well I just built the RPM up to about 1200 RPM and stomped it. Most of the time it would hook good, and some times they would break loose.

Everyone was saying that I wasnt heating the tires up long enough. Next time out I'm going to do some real good somkey burnouts.

This was the first time I 've been at a 1/4 mile track.
I know this may be against the popular opinion, but I like racing on a 1/8th mile track better. I think with as slow as my truck is running the last 500' of the 1/4 is kind of boring. Don't get me wrong I had fun, but I just think that I need to run a lot faster to make the 1/4 mile more exciting. Seems that all the work is done in the first 60' of the race and the rest is just keeping your foot to the floor. I know with a faster car you may have to put some effort into it past the 60', but with mine just keep the wheel straight and thats it.

Your MPH and ET look low to me. Especially since the port and on drag radials. I ran the time in my sig with 4# and chip BEFORE the Apten with a 1.89 60ft on F1's!

Hmmmmm

How much did your truck weigh? Did you take anything off like the spare, hitch, jack, etc. I've heard a good rule of thumb that every 100 lbs is = to a tenth in E.T. You were .14 seconds faster than me, but that was before you had the Apten and on F1's. A lot of other things can factor into that also, but yes your right I expected at least a 12.8

I don't know the exact weight of my truck, but I know it was well over 5000lbs. I might go get it on a scale this week just to find out.

Now my 60' times suck. I'm not sure I will ever be able to get good 60' times, I'm thinking even if I add slicks I won't get better than 1.75, I'm just that bad of a driver
