Never had a tail gate stolen, Worst that I ever had was a beer bottle pushed through my side window on my 01 F150 Lariat in a parking lot.

Tail LIGHT, not tail gate.

There's only 2 damn screws holding em in. Open the tailgate, and out they come.

Yes, I lock my tailgate. Not that I live in a bad area, but ya never know...

Tail GATES get stolen...There are NO screws holding them in...you can simply unlatch and take them out if its not locked...got the warning from the dealer I bought it from...they even showed me how easy it is to take off. Theyve had several tail GATES stolen off the lot, so now they lock all of theirs and I lock mine always...

So you can't get to them with the tonneau open and the tailgate up and locked? The tailgate needs to be down to access them? I haven't gone out to look at mine

Lock your tail gate at all times to prevent tail gate and tail light rip offs. Gates are extremely common heists for thieves.

About 6 months ago a co-worker was at Home Depot in LA for 10 minutes, and when he came out his tailgate was gone. It cost $600.00 + paint to get it replaced. Lots of people in the parking lot, nobody saw anything.

I had a friend have his tailgate stolen a few years ago.It prompted me to install one of these electric locks not long after I got my truck:
http://www.dynolock.net/Dyno-Elelock.htm

It locks/unlocks with the factory locks in cab so you tailgate is locked when you lock the truck. 2 clicks on the unlock button and your tailgate unlocks, 1 click on the remote and it locks with the cab. It also will work with the door buttons inside. I also have one like it installed in my ARE cover as a factory ordered option. No ones getting my tailgate, lights or cargo without a fight now

They cant steal your lights if the tailgate is locked and its cheap insurance too boot. Easy 30 min install if your a little mechanically enclined which I think most of you lightning owners are

Tail Gate

My mechanic displayed how easy it was to steal my tail gate and I got the picture. It took him lest than 60 seconds to remove my tail gate and 1 tail light.
