Question Whats the deal with the reflash vs the new programmers?

Not trying to start any problems, just need some real information. I'm finally getting some cash to modify my truck and want to get some real numbers. I have seen many go with the reflash and many with the new programmers. I'm in Tampa so not readily accesible to any major tuners. What would you guys recommend now that both of these options have been around for a while. The problem I am dealing with is that I stay home all summer in hot tampa fl, and go to school up north in cold as hell rhode island. I need the truck to be able to deal with both of these conditions. Any info on how to deal with this would be really great. Thanks guys and gals.

I'm also in the same boat.

My chip just recently went haywire (lucky I didn't blow my engine)
I was never really happy with the tune anyways, so now, while I',m borrowing a chip, I am searching for answers.

I'm mainly looking for ease of adjustability for mods/minor tuning, which means I want a programmer, and the best tuner.
By best, I mean someone who will listen to me even though I don't have a 10 second lightning, and build me a program that takes all of my needs/wants into account.

If anyone has any recommendations, I'm taking notes. Thanks

I guess my real question is for anyone who has had different chips/programmers from different tuners, and noticed any real difference for L's with moderate mods?

I know how mine felt, and have driven others, and am wondering if there is a big difference.

I have some ideas, I'm just looking to get some checks and balances. Thanks

if warranty out on your truck then get a dual program chip or predator with a hot and cold side on it. I cant wait till the new 4 program superchip comes out more tunes on one chip.

LatemodelRacer2,

Yeah, warranty's not even close to being up, but i don't care.
I'm looking for some tunes that will make my truck perform on the street as best that it can (without stressing out the engine)

I probably won't get to the strip that often (I live in the city), but I want my truck to feel strong all of the time.

Do you have any suggestions for a street-only L?

I am in the middle of testing my new Blue Oval Performance reflash and computer chip tunes.

I just got the truck running and only have about 40 miles on it but so far it looks good.

I requested a computer reflash for street driving on 92 octane and a maximum of 13 lbs boost and this is with a built engine with ported heads/ cams and a KB and 55lb injectors.

Programs #2 and #3 were on the revolution chip and were progressively stronger. Program #2 was for up to 17lb boost and Program #3 was for around 24lbs.

I have only tried the reflash and the #2 program and I would say that they nailed it. They got the idle speed I requested and everything else right, it runs clean and is very quick. I will have some dyno numbers by saturday on the #2 program.

Reflashed

Diablosport reflashed my computer using the Predator and dyno tuned to a safe A/F. My mods are #2 upper and #4 lower with K&N flat air filter with ram air going to the bottom of box, borla catback, stock plugs and no headers as yet. The L runs awesome and have used the predator to really firm up the shifts from 1 to od. Also turned off my EGR. If I have to go to the dealer for any serious work I can load up the stock tune. The last time I spoke to Diablo, the predator should be capable of holding multi tunes. I love it!
