Question roush vs. belltech

well ive searched and just wanted some more opinions...

im wanting to do a drop, from what ive figured, the belltech and the roush give you a 2/3 drop (even though belltech says 3/4), is that right?

the two pics ive found look about the same...

roush:

belltech:

(yes i stole the pics...no i dont want to race )

is the handling of the roush worth the extra money over the belltech?

and does anyone have any good or bad comments on either one of these kits?

thanks for the input

The Roush kit is a better one, IMO.

It has custom valved Bilsteins, and the rear is not as saggy as trucks with the Belltech kit.

Belltech's shocks dont even hold a candle to the Bilsteins.

Plus, the Roush kit uses leafs instead of hangers/shackles used on the Belltech. This the geometry stays intact and there is less side to side rear end slop as with hanger/shackle combos.

The only downside is that the Roush kit halves your payload capacity.

ROUSH is a real race suspension.

BellTech is mainly a quality "drop" suspension.

just my .02

I don't have any personal experience with the Roush kit... period. so I won't comment on it's quality.

but IMHO, the belltech kit is junk.

don't get me wrong. it's affordable and it will certainly lower your truck and give it a great "look".

but the quality and design leave a lot to be desired.

like was said above Belltech is a DROP.

if you want LOWER, go with belltech, if you want honest HANDLING and PERFORMANCE. I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

before everybody with belltech jumps all over me. it's just my opinion.

but I've removed SEVERAL belltech kits from customer's trucks that were unhappy with the ride quality (or complete lack thereof). and the nitro shocks are useless.

later,
chris

I have the belltech 2 inch drop shackles and they are good for what they were bought for. I wanted the back to be even with the front. If you want anything more than that I agree with superfords as I have rode in a hotchins HD.

The roush is actually a 3/4 kit as well, but it is a 3/4 drop on a f150- The lighting is lowered .5 inches in the front and 2 inches (1inch on an 03+) in the rear compared to a regular f150.

I have the Roush and love it ! It truely is amazing on the highway when you are cruising about 90 mph- the truck handles the same as a stock truck at 50 mph! Very responsive and precise ! But one downpoint-- I HATE speedbumps! Since the suspension is so tight, I have to c r e e p over speed bumps and it still gives me a jolt! But its not all about the speedbumps
