I have a Sony, it has the big azz zoom lens with like 10 times optical and 5x digital zoom. it is 5 megapixel. mpeg recording w/ sound. nightvision! it was like $1000 but that was AT LEAST two years ago.

sony has one now with the same mega pixel and nearly the same zoom that you could stick in your pocket, and now they only cost I think around $350.

I don't know about the quality of other cameras on the market, but you might try www.circuitcity.com and you can compare cameras by price and brand etc. and you can read reviews that people have written after they purchased the cameras.

good luck.

later,
chris

I've got the one like superfords, but an older model. I think the model # is DSCF505V. It's only 3.? megamixel and does a pretty good job.

Last year a friend got the Cannon EOS SLR 6.? megapixel, and this camera is top notch. It costs like $999.99, you can change lenses, and it puts out some great looking pictures. I want to get one like it, so if your interested in buying a used camera give me an email. I can tell you it would be almost half what your willing to pay. Like superfords the origianl price was 999 about 3-4 years ago.

Check out DPreview.com for some great digital camera reviews.

I have a Canon... I dunno the exact model or anything because it's in my truck. Never thought I'd spend over $300 on something that fits in my pocket, but oh well... I like it.
