Thinking about getting back in the game with an '04
It's been too long and I'm too slow. I NEED speed, again. I'm getting married in July and will probably trade in the wife's Explorer on a 2004 Lightning. Only thing is, I've been out of the loop and off the boards for a while. What's been going on with the '04s? Any major problems? Front end clunk? Does the head fix REALLY work? Do the fog lights still crack from the inside? Any other major issues that I'm unaware of? Has the orange-peel paint gotten any better? I'm guessing the colors are black, red, white, DSG, and sonic blue?
Obviously, I'll mod it.
Just not to the extent of my 2000, though. I was thinking chip, filter, 4#er, throttle body, full exhaust, traction bars, and FTVB or tranny upgrade (better clutches and a Level 10). In time, I'll probably go with the FRPP drop and 20s - maybe somebody will make '03/'04 replicas by then.
Just loooking for a dependable daily driver for the wife and a fun toy for the weekends...and looking to get back into the community, again!

Great to see you comming back man. I think everyone has decided these days to spend the 500 dollars a throttle body would cost on something that would give more gains. Porting the stock eatons has gotten big if havent read about it yet. Lots of bang for your buck. Go with your mods you have planned but get the s/c ported instead of a TB.
Thanks, y'all! That's interesting to hear about the stock Eaton. I remember people were starting to toy with it the last time I was in here a lot - glad to see some gains from it. Dunno about doing it, though - that might have to be an addition instead of a replacement for a throttle body. It's hard to pass up the fun factor and "zzzt" sound of a good one.
Doug-
Guess that means I'd have to go with chrome rims instead of "painted" factory ones.
